It looks like Celtic are really close to sealing the deal and complete their first signing of this summer transfer window.

While Celtic have agreed terms with a couple of youth players this summer, they have not made an addition to the senior team yet. That could be about to change over the coming days.

Sooner or later, the club needed to get a move on as those around them had already started to strengthen by making signings.

Now, it looks like Celtic are not far away from their first notable signing of the window either.

If reports are on the mark then significant progress has been made with both the club and the player, and it might only be a matter of time before it goes over the line. Although, considering Celtic's transfer record, nothing is for certain until made official.

Celtic look set to make first signing of the summer

According to journalist George Tsarouchas, Celtic are now really close to sealing the deal with Qarabag for Camilo Duran.

On the other hand, Duran's agent is in Scotland from this Saturday. The Colombian striker is already in proceeding talks with Celtic over a multi-year contract.

Duran's name has been heavily featured in the Celtic rumour mill over the last few days. Now, it looks like a move is on the verge of being agreed by all parties.

The Hoops certainly needed to strengthen their forward ranks this summer. So, this is a step in the right direction. But is it enough?

Is Camilo Duran good enough?

It would be wrong to make a judgment on a player until we see them in a Celtic jersey. That being said, there are certainly pros and cons to any deal.

The one thing about Duran that has excited the fans about a move is his record in the Champions League. He scored five goals in Europe's top competition last season and against former winners like Ajax and Benfica. Overall, he scored 15 goals across all competitions in the previous campaign.

There are some question marks though over whether Duran's style of play would fit what is needed at Celtic, which is someone who can consistently score week in, week out against low blocks.

The transfer fee is expected to be in the region of £3 million though, which would not be a massive risk.

So, there is little reason for Celtic not to go ahead and get this deal over the line. And considering the events of the past 24 hours, it looks like that is exactly where this saga is headed.
