Anthony Joseph has dropped some fresh Celtic transfer news, as it looks like a move could be on.
Celtic have completed a couple of signings so far this summer, and very positive ones at that. These are not the usual 'project' additions that you see from the Hoops, and have some intent behind them.
Camilo Duran was signed from Qarabag. He scored five goals in the Champions League last season. And in pre-season at least, he has looked like the real deal, scoring three goals in three appearances in Celtic colours.
Kasper Hogh has recently been brought in in a club-record move as well. Of course, he scored against Man City, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan in the Champions League last season.
His goalscoring record for Bodo/Glimt was stellar. It remains to be seen whether it will translate to life at Celtic or not.
But even after the two ambitious additions, Celtic need more. And it looks like they remain in talks over a midfield addition next.
Anthony Joseph drops Celtic transfer update
According to Anthony Joseph, Mika Baur was left out of the SC Paderborn squad for their pre-season friendly against Southampton. The club say that the 22-year-old had a cold.
Baur is keen to join Celtic and is awaiting an agreement between the two clubs so he can travel. Talks are ongoing.
There had been some suggestions that the transfer had collapsed. But judging from Joseph's update on the situation, that is not the case.
Dialogue is still ongoing. Now, it remains to be seen whether an agreement can be found or not. The positive is that the player wants the move to happen.
Why Celtic want Mika Baur
Baur played an integral part in Paderborn getting promoted to the Bundesliga for the upcoming season. But now, it looks like he wants to leave and complete a move to Celtic.
It is believed that Celtic have already made a failed bid or two for the German midfielder. One would hope to see them come back with another one.
Celtic need midfield reinforcements this summer. They are currently seeing key midfielders being linked with moves away.
Arne Engels is widely expected to leave. Celtic did well to turn down a £25 million offer for the Belgian international in the winter window.
Reo Hatate is expected to head for the exit door as well, after barely featuring towards the end of the previous campaign.
There has been some speculation around the future of Benjamin Nygren as well, after he was named the Celtic player of the season last time around.
