The door seems to have opened for the Celtic hero to make a return to Parkhead this summer.

Celtic have made some questionable decisions during the ongoing summer transfer window. But have they always been pointing towards solutions down the line?

We have seen them part ways with Kelechi Iheanacho, having failed to find an agreement. But then, it led to the record signing of Kasper Hogh.

So, in the long run, it might end up being a positive for Celtic. While Iheanacho was brilliant in the impact sub role he had last season, he had his fair share of injury problems for sure. Someone like Hogh might end up having a bigger overall impact if he can rediscover his Bodo/Glimt form at Parkhead.

Another player Celtic failed to bring back after a solid spell is Marcelo Saracchi. That was a bit of a headscratcher, to be honest.

It had looked like both Saracchi and Boca Juniors were keen for a move to take place and the transfer fee was more than reasonable. But could it have been the opportunity to bring back a club hero that led to Celtic passing up on the chance to bring back the Uruguayan international?

Greg Taylor return on the cards?

According to George Tsarouchas, Greg Taylor is not in PAOK's plans for next season. He will not be on the roster after the second match of the Europa League qualification.

He is on Celtic's transfer list for a possible return, but nothing is clear yet. Also, there is interest from another Scottish team.

Of course, Taylor left Celtic just last summer in order to join PAOK. But it is pretty clear that things have not gone according to plan in Greece.

Celtic were keen to keep him back then, despite the return of Kieran Tierney. So, do not be surprised if they end up opening the door, now that he appears to be available.

Does bringing back Taylor make sense for Celtic?

Celtic most definitely need to bring in another left-back this summer. We all know about Tierney's injury history. In fact, it was unexpected that he did not spend any significant time on the sidelines last season.

That being said, Celtic do need to ensure that they always have a left-back, who is capable of stepping in and being the starter, whenever called upon.

Saracchi was that kind of player but the club let him leave. Fortunately, Taylor is also of that level. He was the Celtic starter for years.

So, if Celtic do end up bringing back Taylor, there cannot be much room for complaining. Obviously, a lot of it will depend on the transfer fee.
