Anthony Joseph has confirmed some fantastic transfer news that Celtic fans will love.

This has not been a good week for Celtic. Firstly, it emerged that the club had failed to find an agreement with Kelechi Iheanacho and he had moved to Turkey.

Then, news broke that Celtic had also accepted a bid in the region of £10 million to part ways with Daizen Maeda, the club's most important player, who had found Henrik Larsson-esque form in the title run-in last season.

So, those two exits will significantly weaken this squad. Think of it as the club losing probably its two most important players in the league and cup double just a few months ago.

So far, the Hoops have brought in Camilo Duran this summer. The former Qarabag striker has shown promise in pre-season. It remains to be seen if he can make a difference once competitive football starts. But at the same time, it is very clear that more is needed.

There is some positive news for Celtic in this regard. It looks like they are now trying to bring in more quality up top.

Celtic in talks to sign proven striker

According to a report from Anthony Joseph, Celtic are in talks to sign Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh.

The Hoops have held a long-term interest in the Denmark international and made an enquiry for him in January.

Norwich City had made a £6.9 million bid for Hogh back then, but the player decided to stay at Bodo/Glimt for the Champions League run.

In hindsight, that was the right move for him. Last season, we saw him score goals against teams like Manchester City, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, playing an integral part in Bodo/Glimt's historic run in the competition.

Why Hogh would be a good signing for Celtic

Hogh has already proved that he can deliver the goods at the very highest level, when the pressure is on. Celtic could certainly do with a player like that.

His overall record is pretty solid as well. In 103 games for Bodo/Glimt, he has scored 54 goals and provided 22 assists.

So, Celtic fans will be hoping that Hogh can come in and fill the club's need for a consistent goalscorer up top.

There is a bit of risk involved in a striker department of Hogh, Duran and Callum Osmand. There is not enough experience in the Scottish Premiership.

But if it clicks, the club might have one of the best striking depth they have had in a long time, perhaps going back to when Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis were at the club.
