Celtic supporters won't be happy with the board's decision regarding the fan favourite.

It would be an understatement to say that Celtic fans are not happy with how things have played out so far this summer. And it only seems to be getting worse.

Celtic are losing a lot of experience in this window. Kelechi Iheanacho and Marcelo Saracchi have not been brought back on new deals.

On top of that, now it looks like the club have accepted a £10 million bid from Ipswich Town to part ways with Daizen Maeda.

Another recent update on why the Saracchi return did not happen will be a worry for the supporters and lead to more questions about the club's team-building strategy.

Why Marcelo Saracchi return did not happen

According to CeltsAreHere, claims that Marcelo Saracchi’s wage demands ended his chances of returning to Celtic have been strongly disputed by the player’s camp. His agent, Marcelo Tejera, said about the matter:

“They don’t want him, full stop.”

If any fans are still holding out hope that the club could revisit a move later in the window, that door seems to have been closed as well. The outlet were told by the player's camp:

“Celtic is already in the past for us.”

Of course, a good section of the Celtic fanbase had wanted to see Saracchi back at Parkhead.

He was one of the standout performers for the club whenever given a chance last season, even though he spent most of it as a backup option to Kieran Tierney.

Celtic need to sign a left-back this summer

One can only wait and watch how this summer transfer window plays out from here. But rest assured that the club will need to sign another left-back.

Tierney simply does not have the injury track record for the club to be convinced that he will be able to start games on a constant basis, twice or thrice a week, for the entirety of a campaign.

The fact that Tierney remained injury-free last season was somewhat of a surprise to many when you consider how often he had gotten injured during his time at Arsenal.

That being said, it could very well be the exception rather than the norm moving forward. So, at the very least, Celtic need to have a left-back who is ready to step into the starting spot at any time and not look out of place.

Celtic already had it in their hands in the form of Saracchi. But for some reason, they were not particularly keen on signing him. Let's see who they go for instead and whether he is nearly as good or not.
