The two players went back-to-back off two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell in the top of the first.

Toronto Blue Jays players Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made some history in the top of the first inning in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night, hitting back-to-back home runs off Los Angeles Dodgers starter Blake Snell.

Per several outlets, including Jays reporter Shi Davidi, it's the first time ever that a team has opened a game with back-to-back homers in the World Series.

It's the first home run of the postseason for Schneider, who is only starting because of the injury to George Springer - and because Snell is a lefty. Guerrero now has eight homers this postseason, which is the most all-time for a Jays player in a single postseason, or an entire career.

Snell is a two-time Cy Young winner between his previous stops with the Tampa Bay Rays and the San Diego Padres. He was able to get out of the first inning by striking out Bo Bichette and then getting a force out and a caught stealing. Alejandro Kirk did have a single.

Trey Yesavage is on the mound for the Blue Jays. The first-round draft pick of Toronto in 2024, he also started Game 1 of the series, a game in which Toronto won.

If the Blue Jays are able to win this game, they'll head back to Toronto on Friday night for Game 6 with a 3-2 series lead. They haven't won the World Series since 1993. The Dodgers are hoping to win the World Series for the second straight year. No team has won consecutive titles since the 1999-00 Yankees.
