Dustin Lind, who was with the Mariners from 2018-19, will be the lead hitting coach for the Orioles.

The Seattle Mariners had the best postseason run in franchise history this year.

The Mariners made it to Game 7 of the American League Championship Series and were one win away from the World Series for the first time since the club was established in 1977.

Since president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto has joined the front office in 2015, he's helped oversee a years-long rebuild that resulted in the playoff success this year and the team breaking its then-21-year playoff drought in 2022.

Over the course of the decade, there's been several coaches that have moved on to take expanded roles across the league. One of those coaches is defending American League Manager Stephen Vogt. Another coach recently took on a major role with another team.

Dustin Lind was named the lead hitting coach for the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.

Lind will take over the position vacated by previous hitting coach Cody Asche, who left the team to take over as assistant hitting coach for the Detroit Tigers.

Lind's coaching career began with Seattle. He was hired as a minor league quality assurance coach in 2018 and was promoted to the team's director of hitting development and strategies in 2019.

After his stint with the Mariners, Lind was hired as the San Francisco Giants' director of hitting strategy and was an assistant hitting coach from 2019-23. Lind worked with new Orioles manager Craig Albernaz in San Francisco. The latter was the club's bullpen and catching coach during the prior's stint.

Lind has served as an assistant hitting coach for the Philadelphia Phillies for the last two seasons.

In his sole season as the Mariners' director of hitting development and strategies, Seattle was 12th in the majors in home runs (239).

This past season, Baltimore was 24th in the majors in batting average (.235), tied for 11th in home runs (191), 21st in OPS (.699) and tied for 24th in RBIs (643).
