Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh officially has another accomplishment to add to his ever-expanding list of them from this season.
On Friday, Raleigh was announced as the American League's Silver Slugger winner for the catcher position. It was the first Silver Slugger award for Raleigh. He was named a finalist for the award last season.
It was the latest accomplishment in what has been arguably the greatest season by a catcher in MLB history.
Before the year, Raleigh signed a six-year, $105 million contract. In the first year of his new deal, Raleigh scored 110 runs in 159 games and hit 24 doubles and 60 home runs with 125 RBIs. He slashed .247/.359/.589 with a .948 OPS.
In the postseason, Raleigh scored eight times in 12 games and hit two doubles and five homers with eight RBIs. He slashed .304/.407/.674 with a 1.081 OPS. His 65 total home runs in the regular season and playoffs are the most by an American League hitter in one year.
Raleigh's 60 regular season homers were the most by a catcher and a switch-hitter in MLB history, exceeding the previous records held by Salvador Perez and Mickey Mantle, respectively.
During the season, Raleigh earned the first All-Star nod of his career. He won the Home Run Derby and became the first catcher in MLB history to do so.
Raleigh is one of several active players to have a Gold Glove, a Platinum Glove and Silver Slugger award in their career. He won the Gold Glove and Platinum Glove awards last season. Other players to accomplish that feat include San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado.
Raleigh could add more hardware to his trophy cabinet during this winter.
Raleigh, alongside New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez, are one of the three finalists for the American League MVP award.
The winner of the MVP award will be announced on Nov. 13.
