Players Discussion

Ohl claimed off waivers by Mets
On Monday, the Colorado Rockies announced that pitcher Pierson Ohl was claimed off waivers by the New York Mets.
Ohl's season was halted last season as he had to deal with Tommy John surgery. Ohl was a 14th-round draft pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 2021 MLB Draft.

Keep an eye on Rockies' minor-league system
Mentioning the Colorado Rockies' minor-league system might send some fans into fits. It's been a rather rocky road, at times, for those prospects to come up and deliver.
If you look at last season, though, players like TJ Rumfield and Cole Carrigg definitely had an impact on how the team played. Their gutsy style of play rubbed off a bit on their teammates, too.

Rockies Better Focus on Rumfield's Development
In a rather droll season, seeing young players like TJ Rumfield come up and deliver both at the plate and in the field for the Colorado Rockies was impressive.
About his defense, Rumfield was named a Gold Glove finalist on Wednesday.

Could Rockies Pick Up Player or Two?
As Colorado Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta and general manager Josh Byrnes get serious about the upcoming season, they are going to try and get this team in better shape.
One aspect that might take place for those two is looking toward the free agent market. There might be a pitcher or two that they can get for a reasonable contract.

Three Rockies on All-MLB Ballot
Right now, you can vote for TJ Rumfield, Hunter Goodman, and Jake McCarthy on the All-MLB Ballot.
Earlier this week, the team put out a post on X about this.

Veen Gets MVP Honors from Pacific Coast League
Zac Veen has proven to be a valuable player in the Colorado Rockies' organization.
Did I say valuable? How about Most Valuable Player?

Rockies' Minor Leaguers at Fresno Honored
Five Colorado Rockies players who are a part of the Fresno Grizzlies have been named Single-A All-Stars by Minor League Baseball.
These players include third baseman Wilder Davis, outfielder Roldy Brito, designated hitter Tanner Thach, starting pitcher Brady Parker, and relief pitcher Seth Clausen.

Freeland Becomes Rockies' Nominee for Clemente Award
Colorado Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland has been named as a nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, given to a player who has shown much support for his own community.
The award is named for late Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Clemente, who died in a plane crash while taking supplies to his home nation of Nicaragua. Nicaragua had just suffered a devastating earthquake in 1973.

Give us your thoughts
The Colorado Rockies' pitching has been pretty abysmal this season. None of the starters inspire any confidence, and the bullpen has had its fair share of issues as well.
With the Rockies' season nearing its end, what would you like to see the front office do to elevate the pitching staff in the coming months?

Not A Great Start for Sugano
Tomoyuki Sugano has been one of the most valuable, if not the most valuable, pitchers for the Colorado Rockies this season.
Sugano had a job to do on Wednesday night. What was it? Keep the New York Yankees in check so the Rockies could avoid getting another loss.
