As the NBA Draft approaches, one name continues to be linked to the Chicago Bulls at No. 4 overall: Caleb Wilson.
Draymond Green recently, on his podcast, gave Caleb high praise by comparing him to an all-time great PF Kevin Garnett, stating, "I actually think Caleb Wilson, Kevin Garnett could be his floor. That’s how special I think Caleb Wilson is.” That is incredibly high praise from a player who has spent more than a decade competing against some of the greatest talent the game has ever seen.

Wilson possesses elite physical tools and tremendous upside. At the same time, he remains somewhat raw as a prospect. When Green describes Wilson as being "clumsy," it is not meant as criticism. Rather, it speaks to the fact that Wilson's game is still developing. He has not yet fully grown into his frame or polished every aspect of his skill set. Which is the most exciting part of his projection. If Wilson is already considered one of the top prospects in the draft despite still refining his game, his ceiling could be extremely high.
When you look at Caleb Wilson and Kevin Garnett as prospects, there are definitely some similarities. Physically, both players entered the basketball world with unique frames and athletic gifts. Wilson is listed at 6-foot-10 with a reported 7-foot-1 wingspan, while Garnett entered the league at 6-foot-11 with a 7-foot-5 wingspan.
Both players thrive in the open floor and are exceptional athletes who can play above the rim. They are versatile two-way players capable of impacting the game in multiple ways. Like Garnett, Wilson plays with a relentless motor and brings energy on both ends of the court. He can switch defensively, protect the rim, jump passing lanes, and create disruption all over the floor.
Offensively, there are similarities as well. Both players are comfortable operating in the midrange, using their length to shoot over defenders. They can also attack downhill, finish in transition, and create offense through their athleticism and effort.
Comparing any prospect to Kevin Garnett comes with extremely high expectations. Garnett is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. Still, I believe Wilson has the talent to live up to those comparisons. If he develops the same mentality, work ethic, and competitive drive that Garnett had, there's no telling how high his ceiling could be.
Personally, Caleb reminds me of three different players. I see Kevin Garnett in his motor, athleticism, and body movement. I see Anthony Davis in his defensive versatility and rim protection. And I see shades of Giannis Antetokounmpo when he's pushing the ball in transition and attacking downhill.
Caleb Wilson has been my No. 1 prospect for the Bulls throughout this draft process, and hopefully, when draft night arrives, Chicago has the opportunity to call his name with the No. 4 overall pick.
