Brian Scalabrine had some conflicting remarks this week, and Brown set the record straight in his own way on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday night, current Philadelphia 76ers star and former Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown made his position clear on Brian Scalabrine's comments from earlier this week.

As you may recall, Scalabrine, the current Celtics television analyst, went on Sirius XM this week and said that Brown asked for a trade out of Boston after presenting the organization with a list of demands.

Then, Scalabrine walked back those comments a bit, holding fast to the idea that Brown had demands, but stopping short of saying that he actually asked out.

As is typical, those comments got back to Brown. He said that he "loves Scal" and has never had a problem with him, but that he doesn't want false allegations to follow him through his career. He says that he never asked for a trade and never presented a list of demands.

At the end of the day...

None of this truly matters. Whether he did or didn't ask for a trade just isn't important right now. All parties have moved on. None of this conjecture helps the Celtics or 76ers win games, and the distraction could eventually help both teams lose games.

The details of this story are important for Brown's immediate legacy in Boston, but it likely doesn't impact his overall legacy that much. At the end of the day, he's still an NBA champion, an NBA Finals MVP and he'll still likely get into the Basketball Hall of Fame and say plenty of nice things about Boston at the podium. He'll probably have his number retired by the organization one day and this will end up being water under the bridge, but it doesn't make the gossip any less interesting right now.

Is everyone ready to move on?

Jayson Tatum says he's ready to be done talking about his relationship with Brown, and Brown seems ready to focus on basketball as well, despite his willingness to keep this story going.

The thing that will make this hard? The two teams play each other four times this season, so there is always going to be an on-ramp back to the conversation. The Celtics and 76ers will play each other for the first time on Nov. 10, meaning that meeting is not even two weeks away.

Up next for Boston

The Celtics will take on the Chicago Bulls on Friday night in the first game of the NBA Cup, which is the NBA's in-season tournament.
