Oregon Commit Reveals Reason Behind Florida State Visit cover image

Ducks verbal commit Cameron Pritchett shared why he took the trip to Tallahassee and what he thinks of the Seminoles.

Florida State hosted multiple four-star recruits who are verbally committed to separate College Football Playoff teams. Alabama commit Jabarrius Garror was one who raved about his FSU trip.

Oregon commit Cameron Pritchett was another who took in Tallahassee.

Pritchett came via Alabaster, Ala., and joined Garror as the state's representatives chatting with Florida State.

Pritchett told Chris Nee of 247Sports why he chose to take on the atmosphere at FSU.

"I wanted to get back here just to get a feel for it," Pritchett said to Nee. "See if I fit here and so far it has been a great experience for me. It has been great people around here. Great program. I'm loving my visit so far."

But he didn't come alone on this trip.

"I wanted my whole family to come check it out with me," Pritchett said. "I wanted them to be a part of the experience and just see it for themselves."

Pritchett became a hard commit for Oregon in June 2025. He remains verbally pledged to the Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning.

Oregon is a notable hot spot for blue chip recruits in the last two decades. The campus facilities, uniform designs, NFL players produced, plus Oregon rising as an early Big Ten contender in its transition from the Pac-12 have drawn recruits in.

However, Lanning and the Ducks have taken notable recruiting losses. One from 2026 is Richard Wesley, who flipped to Texas after choosing Oregon in June.

Pritchett remains locked in with Oregon -- but the 'Noles are pushing.

"FSU is still in it because this is most definitely a place I can see myself going," Pritchett said. "Nowadays it is all about relationships and I want to keep building that relationship, because anything could happen."

This means the 'Noles are one to watch now in Pritchett's recruitment. He still has between now and the December early signing period to make a final decision. But once a player signs his national letter of intent (including an NIL deal if extended), that means he's officially locked into the university.

Florida State, meanwhile, added one notable recruit during the same weekend Pritchett visited. Junior college All-American quarterback Malachi Marshall verbally chose the Seminoles during the same weekend -- handing FSU a third newcomer behind center.
