The LSU Tigers might not have as many 2027 recruits as other schools, but the players they do have are exciting.

The LSU Tigers don't have as many recruits signed for the 2027 recruiting class as the schools ahead of them, but the top players that they do have signed should make major impacts on the team's future

ESPN's Craig Haubert recently released an updated list of his top 50 2027 recruiting classes so far, and the Tigers remained right at the No. 15 spot.

LSU currently has 16 commits for next season, which is fewer than the places ahead of them. For example, the Oklahoma Sooners (No. 6 on Haubert's list) have 27 commits. The two schools have the same number of five-star and four-star recruits.

While some schools may have more talent, LSU is quite happy with the early talent it has brought in. KJ Green and Ahmad Hudson are two of the best players in the country.

The Tigers have had immense success recruiting defensive line over the past two seasons, but most of the elite talent has come on the interior. Green could be a starting pass rusher next season, with defensive end Princewill Umanmielen expected to play on Sundays next year thanks to his monster senior campaign.

Green is considered slightly small for a defensive end, but he can always put on more weight and it hasn't been a setback so far, thanks to his strength and explosiveness.

Hudson is a multi-sport star who has been targeted heavily by the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but the current expectation is that he is going to end up sticking in Baton Rouge. There is no better way to follow up Trey'Dez Green than with another elite athlete at tight end. Hudson is another near 6-foot-7 weapon.

Quarterback Peyton Houston is a four-star, but many believe that his size, under six feet tall, is the only thing keeping him from being one of the top two or three passers in his class. It may make more of an impact on his future in the NFL, though anything is possible, but smaller quarterbacks have had plenty of success in college. Houston's accuracy and confidence will be enough to make up for some other tools.

Those are just the biggest standout players, as well. There is a lot to like about this LSU class, even if they aren't a top-five unit in the nation right now. The Tigers should shoot up the rankings as the cycle progresses and they start to add more talent to catch up with some of the other schools.
