Texas A&M transfer Josh Holloway will visit Memphis on Monday and Tuesday, according to Sam Kayser of League Ready. Holloway has taken visits to Missouri and West Virginia and is set to make a commitment “sometime next week”, according to the same report.

Holloway is a Memphis native and started his high school career at St. George’s before transferring to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. The point guard wasn’t ranked in the 247Sports player rankings, and he signed with Samford out of high school.

Holloway spent two seasons with the Bulldogs and averaged 7.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 33 games, including 11 starts, during his sophomore season.

Following the 2024-25 season, Samford head coach Bucky McMillan accepted the head coaching job at Texas A&M, and the point guard followed him to College Station. With the Aggies, Holloway appeared in 34 games, averaging 4.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, and he entered the transfer portal shortly after the season wrapped up.

The point guard shot 44.1 percent from the field over the last three seasons, but he has only averaged 16.3 minutes per game. As a sophomore, he averaged 23 minutes per game, but that number dropped significantly when he made the move to the SEC.

The 6-foot-1 guard is receiving interest from high-major programs, but it’s likely that he would have a large role with Memphis. It seems that the Tigers have made him a priority over the last few weeks, and getting a visit shortly before his decision should help their chances.

While Brandin Cummings committed earlier in the cycle, Penny Hardaway and the Tigers have yet to sign a traditional point guard. Despite averaging only 2.2 assists per game over the last three years, Holloway has shown that he can be more of a facilitator in a bigger role, and he averages 5.7 assists per 40 minutes.

While Holloway has made a name for himself on the hardwood, he made headlines in 2022 after he, then 17, filed a lawsuit against Grizzlies guard Ja Morant. The lawsuit alleged that Morant punched him during a pickup basketball game at Morant’s parents’ house.

The lawsuit was dismissed in 2025 by a Shelby County Circuit Judge who ruled that Morant acted in self-defense. Holloway’s move to Oak Hill Academy came shortly after this incident took place.

Holloway will be the fourth player to visit Memphis since last Monday. The Tigers hosted Tylik Weeks, Jayden Reid and Corneilous Williams last week, but they’re still waiting for a commitment from any of the visitors.

Memphis’ roster currently stands at eight players.
