It shouldn’t matter much what goes on with football players off the field, if you’re going to look at them as less than human beings. From an NFL draft perspective, character matters a lot alongside physical makeup and traits, as should personality, a person’s background, and things that make them unique. Some of those things may have caused them pain and difficulties in their lives. In the case of Texas A&M Aggies star wide receiver KC Concepcion, he had to emulate what it’s like to traverse and overcome some of those hardships after the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine.
Unfortunately, despite Concepcion’s prowess on the field, that wasn’t the focus at the event. The draft prospect had 61 catches for 919 yards and nine touchdowns last season and hopes to go early in the draft. Instead, all the focus was on Concepcion having a stutter. Naturally, the unfortunate state of today’s social media led to this being a moment of ridicule and criticism rather than respectful or honoring of Concepcion’s tribulations. Concepcion took his narrative back posting a powerful response on Instagram about his speech impediment and wanting to be a role model for rothers.
Here is the full story from Aggies Roundtable writer Mike Fisher on Concepcion’s powerful message about his stutter.
Concepcion was bullied for his stutter as a child and flipped that to hopefully serve as a role model for others. In addition to his work on the field, his character off of it will certainly endear teams ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.
