Can Northwestern snap losing streak vs. Maryland?

The Northwestern Wildcats head back home after a frustrating loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers to take on the Maryland Terrapins.  The Wildcats are now on a five-game losing streak, with the most recent loss to Nebraska. Northwestern football hits major milestone in 2026

Northwestern football has been around for quite some time.  The 2026 season will be a special one for the program for a number of reasons, but one of the main ones is the opening of the new and improved Ryan Field. Stat shows how bad Northwestern's secondary was in 2025

The Northwestern Wildcats made a bowl game for the second time in the David Braun era.  However, there are still a lot of problems that need to be addressed through the portal or recruiting. One of those is the secondary. Northwestern's secondary allowed one of the highest passer ratings in the Big Ten when targeted, at 101.9.  The only schools above Northwestern were Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan State and Rutgers. Jan 27, 2026

Hunter Welcing heads to Ohio State

Northwestern Wildcats transfer Hunter Welcing officially committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday, via Rivals' Hayes Fawcett.  Welcing was an All-Big Ten selection this season and finished with 296 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He'll have one more year of eligibility left in his college career.  He played in 39 games for the Wildcats. Jan 12, 2026

What to think of Grant Seagren's transfer commitment to Northwestern

The Northwestern Wildcats earned a transfer commitment from former Oklahoma State Cowboys offensive lineman Grant Seagren.  Seagren spent the first two years of his college career with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He has plenty of experience under his belt and went 403 pass block snaps without allowing a single sack.  Sounds like Northwestern got a pretty solid portal pickup. Northwestern wins sixth-straight bowl game

Confidence level ahead of Northwestern-Butler in Indy Classic

We are just one day away from Northwestern Wildcats basketball taking on the Butler Bulldogs in the Indy Classic.  Northwestern snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over Jackson State. The Wildcats topped that with a win over Valparaiso.  Butler is in the middle of a 1-2 stretch after losing to No. 5 UConn and Boise State. Pat Spencer's Northwestern ties

Pat Spencer's story has blown up lately.  He played four years of college lacrosse before transferring to Northwestern to play basketball. A new Northwestern University?

Northwestern is not the only university with similar characteristics in its name.  There is already a Northwestern State, residing in Louisiana. Now, there's a new university potentially being formed with the combination of two Division III colleges.  Williamette University and Pacific University have agreed to negotiate to merge to form the University of the Northwest, via Adam Nelson on X. Confidence level ahead of Northwestern's bowl with Central Michigan

The Northwestern Wildcats did enough to make the postseason in 2025, finishing the regular season with a 6-6 record.  They will now take on the Central Michigan Chippewas in the GameAbove Sports Bowl on Dec. 26. Central Michigan went 4-2 in its final six games. Early Signing Day vibes for Northwestern

The Northwestern Wildcats currently have one four-star commitment in the 2026 class, as Early Signing Day is here.  That four-star commit is none other than receiver Jaden McDuffie, who is the No. 57 receiver in his class, via Rivals.  There is still time for Northwestern to flip or earn some late commitments. The Northwestern-Michigan game was must-see TV

Even though the Northwestern Wildcats couldn't pull off the win against the Michigan Wolverines, it was still one of the most-watched games on Saturday.  ESPN and ABC put up some crazy numbers with the games they broadcasted over the weekend, as the Northwestern-Michigan game came in at No. 5 with 3.76 million viewers.  The game being at historic Wrigley Field definitely helped, but it's great to see the Wildcats get some attention. Nov 19, 2025

Northwestern now leads the FBS in a disappointing stat after USC loss

Northwestern dropped to 5-4 on the year after losing 38-17 to No. 19 USC.  With No. 2 Indiana's 27-24 win over Penn State, Northwestern now leads the FBS in something, and it's not great. The Wildcats now hold the record for the most all-time losses in college football history, with 716. Northwestern and Indiana were tied before the Wildcats lost on Saturday. It's a piece of college football history, but maybe not one that Northwestern wants to be associated with. Nov 10, 2025

Video released of new Ryan Field construction progress

Northwestern football is getting closer and closer to completing its renovations of Ryan Field.  The renovations will cost $862 million, with the Wildcats aiming to complete them ahead of the 2026 season.  A video was posted of the work going on inside the stadium. Northwestern and USC's last meeting in the Rose Bowl

The Northwestern Wildcats and No. 20 USC Trojans are set to face off this Friday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.  The last time that Northwestern and USC played each other in college football was quite some time ago. You would have to go back to the 1995 season to the Rose Bowl to find when it was.  The Wildcats came into that game at 10-1 and were led by former head coach Gary Barnett.  Northwestern lost that game 41-32, but it was still a defining point for the program. Before the 1995 season, the last time the Wildcats had a winning record was in 1970.  It's hard to imagine where Northwestern football would be without Barnett's contributions. Nov 3, 2025

Northwestern's chances of beating No. 23 USC

The Northwestern Wildcats go on the road in Week 11 to face the No. 23 USC Trojans.  Northwestern has an extra week of preparation as they are on a bye in Week 10. ESPN's FPI is giving USC a 91% chance to beat Northwestern at home.  As long as the Wildcats get one win in their last six games, they will be bowl eligible for the second time under head coach David Braun. Braun is 9-3 in games decided by seven points or fewer since 2023, so the recipe for success is clear.  Can Northwestern realistically beat Northwestern on Nov. 8? Oct 31, 2025

New renderings of the Ryan Field renovations

With construction underway at Ryan Field, the football team has played its games at Martin Stadium.  On Tuesday, some new renderings of what the recruiting lounge and team tunnel will look like once the renovations at Ryan Field are complete. There will be a wall dedicated to former players who have gone on to the next level.  The rendering featured Peter Skoronski (Tennessee Titans), Rashawn Slater (Los Angeles Chargers) and Greg Newsome II (Cleveland Browns), as well as various other alumni.  Thoughts on the new renderings? Oct 28, 2025
