The Syracuse University men's basketball team continued its solid run of offensive play with an 83-72 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon at Pitt.
With the win, the Orange are now 11-5 overall and 2-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. The Panthers are 7-9 and 0-3.
Here's what you need to know:
The Orange put up 48 points in the first half and held a 48-37 lead after the first 20 minutes. The two teams tied at 35 apiece in the second half.
--To that point, Syracuse shot 56 percent for the game (29-of-52) and they were also 10-of-22 from three-point range (45 percent).
--It was another day of improvement at the foul line as well, as the Orange were 15-of-18 (83 percent).
--One of the keys to the game? That Pitt was just 5-of-26 from three-point range (19 percent).
--The Orange committed 11 turnovers while Pitt committed 12. SU had 14 assists vs. 12.
--Syracuse led by as many as 18, but the game got dicey down the stretch before the Orange pulled away again. That's becoming a bit of a nasty trend.
--Three players scored in double-figures for the Orange, including Donnie Freeman (22), JJ Starling (19) and William Kyle III (11). Brandin Cummings had 29 off the bench for the Panthers to lead all scorers.
Kyle was all over the court, scoring 11 points in just 19 minutes. But he also had four rebounds and four steals, and he had two epic dunks. This was the better of the two.
Tyler Betsey also scored nine points off the bench, going 3-of-4 from three-point range. The bench had 19 points in all.

The starting backcourt of Nate Kingz and Naithan George has to be better. George has played very well of late but he had just five points in 38 minutes, and he went 1-of-6 from the floor. Kingz had only seven points in 25 minutes and was 2-of-6.
Once again, Kiyan Anthony had limited minutes. He had two points in only 10 minutes of action. There have been calls for him to get more minutes, but today he got less.
The Orange will be back home at the JMA Wirelss Dome on Tuesday night (Jan. 13) when they host Florida State. Tip-off is 9 p.m. ET and our own Tom Goslowski will be there. Follow him on social media @TomGozz.
