Texas' NBA pipeline flows strong as Dailyn Swain's remarkable development projects him as a first-round pick, offering both scoring and versatile defense.
Texas has long been recognized as a strong pipeline to the NBA, and the latest 2026 mock draft only reinforces that reputation.
In Bleacher Report's latest projection, Longhorns standout Dailyn Swain is slated to be selected by the Denver Nuggets at the end of the first round.
"The Nuggets will continue running any and every offensive action through Nikola Jokić (as they should), but they'd still take self-sufficient scorers if given the option. Swain would give them that choice," BR's Zach Buckley writes. "His isolation attacks were elite this past season, as he seemingly always sniffs out an avenue to the basket and knows how to finish there even when he can't just flush it through."
Swain’s development in Austin has been steady and impactful. Entering the program as an athletic, defense-first wing, he has grown into a well-rounded contributor capable of affecting the game in multiple ways.
After two solid seasons to start his college career at Xavier, Swain transferred to Texas and really broke out.
He averaged 17 points and seven rebounds per game, and he did so on an impressive 54 percent from the field. And while he could work on it a bit, he shot a serviceable 34 percent from beyond the arc.
The Nuggets have built their identity around unselfish play, ball movement, and versatility across positions. Swain fits seamlessly into that system, offering the ability to defend multiple spots, thrive in transition, and contribute without needing heavy usage.
There are still areas for Swain to refine. Improving consistency from three-point range and tightening his handle in half-court sets will be key as he continues his development. Still, his trajectory points to a player who is far from reaching his ceiling, making him an appealing option for teams seeking upside.
The Longhorns have consistently produced NBA-ready talent, and Swain appears poised to be the next name added to that list.
