Tulane Football Portal Haul Continues With Three More Additions cover image

The Tulane Green Wave have been picking up steam in the transfer portal with three more players added Sunday.

The Tulane Green Wave have continued to make the most of the transfer portal window being open as they reload the roster for next season. The portal closes on Jan. 16, but players who already entered are still available for schools to pick up – but the Green Wave aren’t wasting any time. They added three more players on Sunday from the transfer portal: University of New Hampshire defensive lineman Jordan McAllister, Mississippi State running back Johnnie Daniels, and South Alabama defensive lineman Ed Smith.

That brings the additions up to a considerable number from the portal. On offense, Tulane has added now Daniels, LSU wide receiver transfer Destyn Hill, Old Dominion tight end Dawson Johnson, Duke tight end Vance Bolyard, Boston College offensive lineman Ryan Mickow, Houston quarterback Zeon Chriss, Florida State running back Jaylin Lucas, and Mercer offensive lineman Gavin Marks.

On defense, the Green Wave have added now McAllister and Smith, South Alabama linebacker Dalton Hughes, Houston defensive lineman Reshad Sterling, Texas Tech cornerback Macho Stevenson, and Nicholls State defensive back Anthony Rodgers.

The three additions on Sunday bring more to Tulane’s trenches on defense and more enforcements for the rush attack. UNH transfer Jordan McCallister totaled 33 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles for the Wildcats in his sophomore season. He chose the Green Wave over Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

Mississippi State transfer Johnnie Daniels spent two seasons with the Bulldogs where he recorded 58 carries for 411 yards and four touchdowns. He was the No. 1 rated running back at the JUCO level out of Co-Lin and continued on at the SEC level at Mississippi State. In addition to standout star running back Jamauri McClure, that room now has Lucas from FSU and Daniels both transferring in.

South Alabama transfer Ed Smith comes over with teammate linebacker Dalton Hughes. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive lineman could look to compete at the now open Bandit role as Harvey Dyson transferred over to NC State and Mo Westmoreland graduated. Smith will now look to compete alongside returnee Jah’rie Garner. He has nearly 900 career snaps, with 8.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks with 19 pressures alone in the 2025 season.

That is eight new offensive players and six new defenders for a total of 14 additions through the first week of the portal opening. Tulane is also showing that they can scout from the FCS level looking for players to move up as well as Power Four transfers who are looking to develop and seek greater playing time.
