The Huskies women's basketball team kept its perfect record at Alaska Airlines Arena intact against a game Phoenix squad.

SEATTLE — For three quarters, the No. 20 Washington Huskies women's basketball team looked like it might suffer its second-straight loss of the season.

Instead, the Huskies rallied back from down double-digits in the second half to down the visiting Green Bay Phoenix 79-74 on Saturday at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle. The Dawgs improved to 9-1 on the season with the win.

Washington was able to find its first advantage of the game off a double-digit spurt from junior guard Sayvia Sellers.

Sellers scored the Huskies' first 10 points of the first quarter, which accounted for a third of her game-high 30 points. Sellers matched her career-high on 11-for-19 shooting from the floor (7-for-12 from 3-point range). She also pulled in three rebounds and had two assists and a steal.

Saturday was Sellers' sixth game this season with at least 20 points and the second time she's put up 30.

"It's cool. I don't know if I stopped at 30 on purpose," Sellers said in a postgame news conference. "I definitely don't do that. It's cool It's nice to make a couple shots down the stretch, so it was fun."

Green Bay stayed hand-in-hand with Washington despite Sellers' early output. The two sides exchanged leads six times in the first quarter.

A 3-pointer hit by senior Phoenix guard Lily Hansford with 1:47 left in the first gave her team an 18-16 lead.

The Huskies took the lead one more time in the first half after senior guard Elle Ladine hit a triple with 5:48 left in the second quarter. Green Bay responded with a layup, followed by a free-throw, both from senior guard Maddy Skorupsi. Washington didn't lead again until the fourth.

Ladine finished with 11 points on a 3-for-8 mark from the floor. All three of her shots were from beyond the arc and she went 2-for-2 at the free-throw line. She added four rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal.

It was Ladine's first double-digit game this season. She missed the first six contests of the year due to an undisclosed injury.

"The people on our team, the coaching staff, they truly believe in everyone on our team," Ladine said in a postgame news conference. "The way they pour into us, the workouts, how we practice, all of that is just little things that add up. You don't really have to think when you have coaches and teammates like that that just truly believe in you, even when you've been out for two months."

The Phoenix went into halftime with a narrow 42-40 advantage over the Huskies.

Green Bay bolstered its lead in the third quarter and led 60-50 with under four minutes left in the frame.

The Huskies went into the final 10 minutes of the contest trailing 65-56.

In the fourth quarter, Washington opened with a 12-2 run spurred by respective 3-pointers from Sellers, sophomore guard Avery Howell and senior guard Hannah Stines.

Howell finished the game with an 11-point, 12-rebound double-double, added two steals and two blocks.

The Huskies went with a small-ball approach to begin the fourth and were fluid in their movement and passing at the top of the arc, resulting in more open looks from 3-point range, which spurred the comeback.

"(It went) really well," Washington head coach Tina Langley said after the game. "They listened in the timeouts and live really well. We were able to adjust quickly to the changes in the offense and, I thought, understand the way we wanted to execute what we were trying to accomplish. Which is a lot of growth for us."

With 4:26 left in the game, the Phoenix called a timeout with Washington in front 74-70. The Huskies outscored Green Bay 18-5 in the quarter when the visitors called time.

The Phoenix cut Washington's lead to one possession twice in the final four-and-a-half minutes but weren't able to tie or take the lead and the Huskies hung on for the five-point victory.

Washington will next be in action against Stanford at 7 p.m. PT on Dec. 19 at the Maples Pavilion in Stanford, Calif.
