The Huskies will learn whether or not their Class of 2027 wide receiver class will get another big boost with the pending decision of four-star Dontay Tyson Jr.
The Washington Huskies recruiting class earned a major boost to their 2027 recruiting class this week and landed the highest-graded player among their crop of recruits (so far).
The Huskies landed a commitment from four-star wide receiver Tre Moore on Monday. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound wide receiver ranks 160th overall in the Class of '27 per the 247Sports composite and chose UW over other finalists, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Miami Hurricanes.
With Moore's commitment, Washington's recruiting class boasts three wide receivers: Moore, four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney and three-star wide receiver Braylon Pope.
Pope is the highest-ranked player in Washington in the class per the 247Sports composite and Sidney has a built in connection with the only quarterback commitment of the class, four-star Blake Roskopf. Both Sidney and Roskopf attend Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Huskies' group of pass-catchers for the '27 class is already solid and they could be days away from raising their stock with that position group even further.
For weeks now, Washington has been locked in a two-team race with the Texas A&M Aggies to land four-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson Jr.
Tyson was one of several targets the Huskies hosted for official visits this past season on campus in Seattle.
One of UW's recent additions (and potential starter next season), Class of 2026 wide receiver Jordan Clay hosted Tyson.
Following his official visit, Tyson moved up his commitment date to 4:30 p.m. PT on June 5, per a report from Brandon Huffman for Rivals.com.
Washington was already considered the narrow front-runner to land Tyson going into his official visit to Montlake. Coming out of the visit, the Huskies are considered the heavy favorites.
Washington has a 96.9% chance to land Tyson, per Rivals.com's prediction model. Texas A&M has a 1.9% chance to land him per the same website.
Tyson is ranked as the 325th best overall player, 42nd-best wide receiver and seventh-best player in Arizona in the class, per the 247Sports composite.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver attends Peoria High School in Peoria Ariz. The state has proven to be a recruiting hot bed for Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch dating back to his time coaching the Arizona Wildcats (2021-23).
Tyson could be the first of multiple commitments for Washington this upcoming weekend. Three-star defensive back Jeovanni Henley, who has the Huskies as one of his finalists, is scheduled to announce his commitment June 6.
