
The Washington Huskies football program is coming off its first ranked win of the season and a bye week.
The Huskies beat the then-No. 23 Illinois Fighting Illini 42-25 on Oct. 25. The team was 6-2 and 3-2 in the Big Ten following the victory, but didn't earn a placement on the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll following the win. The program became bowl-eligible after the win against Illinois.
In the poll coming off the team's bye week, Washington earned its first placement of the season in the latest AP Top 25 poll. The Huskies were ranked No. 24 in the latest poll. The program earned the placement with 110 votes.
The Huskies' two losses on the season were both against ranked opponents. Washington lost to No. 1 Ohio State 24-6 on Sept. 27 and 24-7 against No. 21 Michigan on Oct. 18.
It's the first AP Top 25 placement for the Huskies since they lost to Michigan in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 8, 2024. Washington finished the season No. 2 in the country.
Washington has four games left on its regular season schedule.
The Huskies will play Wisconsin at 1:30 p.m. PT on Nov. 8, Purdue at a to-be-determined time Nov. 15, UCLA at a to-be-determined time Nov. 22 and No. 6 Oregon at a to-be-determined time Nov. 29.
Washington has one of the best offenses in the conference and will look to run the table and have a successful end to the season.
Sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr. is sixth in the Big Ten in passing yards (2,117). He's completed 73.1% of his passes (second-most in the conference) for 14 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Senior running back Jonah Coleman has ran 126 times for 643 yards and 13 touchdowns. His 13 rushing touchdowns is tied for second-most in the country.
