The Washington Huskies football team is in the thick of the 2027 recruiting cycle.
The Huskies recently earned a commitment from four-star defensive lineman and O'Dea High School (Seattle) student Tevita Nonu.
In addition to landing Nonu, which gives Washington the top '27 in-state recruit for both the flat 247Sports rankings and 247Sports Composite (four-star wide receiver Braylon Pope), the Huskies could also get another string of commitments in the next several weeks.
Many prospects across the nation have official visits scheduled for the end of May or into June. Others have official visits and/or their commitment dates schedule.
UW is ramping up its recruitment '27 three-star edge rusher Chaz Gray (and has an official visit scheduled) and four-star wide receiver Zion White, and has also been named a finalist by several four-star wide receivers, including Osani Gayles, Tre Moore and Dontay Tyson Jr.
While Washington has all those irons in the fire, it also is keeping an eye toward the future with the Class of 2028.
The Huskies recently hosted five-star edge rusher Landen Wade for an unofficial visit this past week.
Wade made a post following the visit on "X" (@landenwade_d1). In that post, Wade said he was "very impressed and loved their morals (and) can't wait to be back."
Wade is ranked as the 20th-ranked overall recruit, seventh-best edge rusher and second best player in Arizona in the '28 class according to the 247Sports Composite.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound edge rusher attends Basha High School in Chandler, Ariz. In his sophomore season this past fall, he finished with 24 total tackles, including 12 tackles for loss, four sacks and one pass breakup.
Wade currently commands an impressive roster list, which includes Arizona, Miami, Florida, Ohio State Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, among many others.
The State has been a recruiting hot bed for Washington head coach Jedd Fisch, who has heavily targeted the state since he was the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats from 2021-23. Two of the Huskies' top recruits of the '27 class, four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, are Arizona-based recruits.
Wade isn't the only blue-chipper that the Huskies have targeted from the '28 class.
Washington is already one of the top teams for five-star edge rusher Jalanie George, who's ranked as the sixth-best player in the country and best player in Arizona, per the 247Sports Composite.
