Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen was ranked the No. 1 NFL QB in both arm strength and decision-making.
Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills was ranked the No. 1 NFL QB in arm strength, decision-making and second-reaction ability by ESPN's Dan Orlovsky.
Allen was also No. 7 in ball placement, No. 9 in mechanics and No. 2 in rushing ability by Orlovsky.
"His ability to get zip on his throws from uncomfortable positions really stands out," Orlovsky wrote. "He just flicks his wrist, and the ball is suddenly in his receiver's hands on a rope. Not every QB1 can do that, and yet he does it with consistency. ... He makes good decisions both in and out of structure. He threw 10 interceptions and lost three fumbles last season, but his tape shows an ability to read the defense and avoid getting baited into trouble."
The 2024 MVP, Allen finished with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. The Pro Bowler enters this season with 30,102 passing yards, 220 passing touchdowns, 4,721 rushing yards and 79 career rushing touchdowns.
Buffalo went 12-5 last season and lost to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round of the 2025 playoffs. Sean McDermott was fired as head coach and Joe Brady was promoted to head coach.
"Still respecting the past and what's been here the last 10 years and not shying away from that, but also having his own twist on it," Allen said after Brady was named HC. "It's been really good to see him embrace the role and step into it. The way that he talks to the guys, you can tell he's very well respected with everybody in that locker room, and it's only going to continue to grow in my opinion."
The Bills had a great offseason. The front office acquired D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears and signed Bradley Chubb and C.J. Gardner-Johnson in free agency.
Buffalo has yet to reach the Super Bowl in the Allen era. That has to change soon.
Otherwise, Allen will never be considered an all-time great.
It will be fascinating to see if Allen and the Bills can reach the promised land this season. Time is running out for Allen to win a championship.
After all, he's not getting any younger.
The Bills open the 2026 season against the Houston Texans.
