The Kansas City Chiefs have an early bye week this season, but there's plenty to talk about. Wide receiver Tyquan Thornton could be out for the season, and his replacement could be an old friend.

The Kansas City Chiefs are back to their old ways, starting the 2026-27 season 4-0.

Roundtable's Chico and Golden J open this week's episode discussing Kansas City's most recent win against their AFC West foe, the Las Vegas Raiders.

First on the docket, though, is some of the bigger news coming from Chiefs Kingdom. Wide receiver Tyquan Thornton was having the game of his career when it all got flipped on its head late in the fourth quarter.

After a huge catch for 55 yards, the WR stood up to celebrate and realized that he had severely injured his ankle, falling to the ground and ultimately getting carted off the field. Thornton left the game leading the Chiefs in receiving yards with 111 and two touchdowns, and will now be out for roughly 12-16 weeks.

Golden J compares the injury to Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who sustained a torn ACL and LCL in December of 2025, but made a swift recovery in time for Week 1 of this season. Specifically, our host makes the argument that Thornton could also make a speedy recovery and should use the same trainers that Mahomes did.

Until then, though, our hosts think Kansas City should look toward rookie Cyrus Allen in an attempt to fill Thornton's shoes -- along with WR Rashee Rice getting more love from Mahomes.

Alternatively, there's also a potential reunion on the horizon. WR Tyreek Hill is still a free agent, and there have been rumors that he may find his way back to KC.

Taking a deeper look at the win, the Chiefs once again were able to rely on running back Kenneth Walker III, who had a dominant game once again; the Super Bowl LX MVP posted 177 rushing yards with two touchdowns.

Kansas City now has a bye week and will get back to action on Sunday, Oct. 18, against the Los Angeles Chargers for yet another AFC West matchup.

Through four weeks, the Chargers are winless and the Chiefs haven't lost a game. LA takes on the Denver Broncos in Week 5, which will be another test to see what the Chargers' floor is this season -- but it's looking like a down year thus far.

Whether the Chiefs will boast Hill as a WR once again remains to be seen, but it will certainly be one of the biggest storylines to follow while Kansas City has a week off.
