The Washington Commanders are set to host the third known cornerback prospect from the 2026 NFL Draft on a top-30 visit

Another day, another prospect locks in plans to meet with the Washington Commanders. This time, it comes at a position of need.

The Commanders are expected to host former Miami (FL) cornerback Keionte Scott on a top-30 visit, per Jordan Schultz. Scott is coming off a visit to the Houston Texas on Monday while the Chicago Bears join Washington as an interested suitor in line for a visit ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft later this month.

News of Washington expected to meet with the ACC cornerback first materialized last month. The rationale is clear. In fact, the news came exactly one day after I projected the 'Canes star to land with the Commanders on day two of the draft.

Viewed as a likely day two or early day three draft prospect, Scott saw his profile climb through the 'Canes playoff run that ended in a loss against top-ranked Indiana in the national championship.

Scott's first career interception came during his first season at Auburn before becoming a pass deflection machine through his first two years, then becoming a rotation piece in the secondary in his third and final season with the Tigers after starting in only four games.

A transfer to Miami (FL) would blossom his career where he emerged as an NFL prospect then cementing that claim during the playoff run, turning a pair of interceptions into defensive touchdowns including the quarterfinal win over Ohio State.

He started all but two of Miami's 14 games, registering a career-high 64 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss and five pass deflections along with a pair of forced fumbles and recoveries.  Scott ended his college career as a second team All ACC selection along with a Jim Thorpe semifinalist while rising to stardom during Miami's playoff run.

Scott would elevate the floor of a cornerback room that has added veteran experience this offseason in Amik Robertson and Akhello Witherspoon. Washington also returns both Trey Amos and Mike Sainristil as head coach Dan Quinn noted last week during league meetings that Sainristil and Robertson will likely open as the outside cornerbacks. Yet after a 2025 season when the Commanders finished with one of the worst pass defenses, general manager Adam Peters still enters the rest of the offseason with questions how to upgrade the position ahead of week one.

Whether Scott materializes into that plan remains to be seen, but he becomes the latest cornerback to meet with Washington after earlier news that both former LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane and former Georgia cornerback Daylen Everette will meet with the team.
