The Washington Commanders continue to evaluate the cornerback room with a third known target set for a top-30 visit.
With the 2026 NFL Draft inching closer, more targets are emerging for the Washington Commanders with another top-30 visit reportedly now set one day after his pro day.
Miami (FL) cornerback Keionte Scott is expected to meet with the Commanders, Ryan Fowler reported on Tuesday morning. He becomes the third known defensive back to meet with the Commanders after Daylen Everette out of Georgia and Mansoor Delane out of LSU. All three have experience in the SEC, but Scott closed out his career with the Hurricanes where he became one of the nation's best defensive backs, a claim cemented during the National Championship run before falling to Indiana.
Scott also reportedly posted a 4.33 seconds in the 40-yard dash during Miami's Pro Day, which would have ranked second among cornerbacks at the NFL Combine, and a 44-inch vertical, which would have led all defensive backs in attendance for the Combine.
It's been a rise for Scott after beginning his college career at Snow College (Utah), emerging as one of the top prospects at the JUCO level before committing to Auburn. With the Tigers, Scott initially bypassed the transfer portal where he totaled 113 tackles, eight pass deflections and one interception during his three seasons as a key piece of the secondary. Scott then transferred to Miami (FL) where he became an impact piece.
Scott finished with a pair of interceptions and two defensive touchdowns while posting five pass deflections as a senior, earning second team All ACC honors while being tapped a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, awarded to the nation's best defensive back.
Viewed as a day two candidate, Scott would address a remaining position of need for the Commanders after suffering one of the worst secondaries during the 2025 season. The first move that general manager Adam Peters made once free agency opened was the signing of former Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson, who can upgrade the slot position. But with just Trey Amos and Mike Sainristil set to return in 2026, upgrading the talent level at the top of the room remains a focus.
Whether Washington pulls the trigger on Scott, Everette or Delane remains to be seen, but it's clear the front office continues to view the cornerback room as a remaining need with options still available for the Commanders to add. Whether it comes in the draft or the available pool of players still in free agency remains the question as Peters and company look to upgrade the unit.
