League executives and scouts ranked the dynamic playmaker among the NFL's top ten rushers following a record-breaking yardage surge and a massive $43.5 million contract extension.

After an abysmal 2025 season, the New York Jets and head coach Aaron Glenn will look to rebound with plenty of new faces on the roster during the 2026 NFL season.

While general manager Darren Mougey managed to acquire a terrific blend of veterans and rookies this offseason, the front office also decided to bring back star Breece Hall to lead the running back unit this season. The extension of Hall should help the organization’s offense attack for the foreseeable future, as many believe the veteran is still one of the top running backs in the NFL.

In his recent article from ESPN Jeremy Fowler ranking the top running backs in the NFL by executives, coaches, and scouts, Hall was able to crack the list at No. 10 before the upcoming season.

“No Jets player in franchise history produced more scrimmage yards through the first four years than Hall, who has 5,040 yards despite missing much of his rookie year with an ACL tear,” Fowler wrote. “Hall turned in his first 1,000-yard rushing campaign last season for the Jets, who rewarded Hall with a three-year, $43.5 million extension this offseason.”

Hall, a second-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been the staple of the Jets’ offense over the last three seasons. After suffering a torn ACL midway through his rookie season, the former Iowa State standout managed to accumulate 1,870 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. In addition to his strong efforts on the ground, Hall also recorded over 1,000 receiving yards during the two-year stretch, proving himself to be one of the most versatile running backs in the NFL.

While Hall showed plenty of promise throughout his first three years in New York, the 2025 season would be the first time the 25-year-old weapon would reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark in his career. His impressive run last season paved the way for him to land a massive three-year, $43.5 million extension this offseason, making him the fifth-highest-paid running back in the NFL on an annual basis.

Now, with Hall back with the Jets for the foreseeable future, the veteran offensive playmaker is primed for another big season under newly hired offensive coordinator Frank Reich.

One of the most important returners to the offense that should help Hall’s efficiency in 2026 will be running back Braelon Allen, who suffered a season-ending injury early in the 2025 season. The return of Allen should take a load off Hall’s shoulders in 2026 and will help his longevity as a running back for the Jets.
