Aaron Glenn is reviving his "three-headed monster" backfield, pairing a healthy Braelon Allen with Breece Hall to finally unleash the dominant ground attack that injuries derailed.
After an offseason full of acquisitions on both sides of the ball, the New York Jets and head coach Aaron Glenn will look for brighter days throughout the 2026 NFL season.
One of the best strengths for the Jets’ offensive game plan last year was the run game, as 2022 second-round pick Breece Hall and 2024 fourth-round pick Braelon Allen were projected to be a top running back duo last season. But unfortunately for Glenn and the offense, the injury bug hampered those plans.
When discussing the future plan for the running back room in 2026, Glenn referred back to his original plan for the group last season, claiming that the “three-headed monster” that he envisioned did not come to fruition.
"That was the vision, with [Braelon Allen, Breece Hall, and Isaiah Davis] last year," Glenn claimed. "And obviously that didn't come to fruition."
In addition to his comment regarding the plan for the Jets’ running back core in 2026, Glenn also revealed his excitement for Allen to be back on the field this offseason.
"I'm just looking forward to seeing [Allen] get out in camp and be a part of that three-headed monster, I call them, as far as running backs."

However, his plans for a running back committee were crushed after Allen suffered an MCL sprain during the team’s Week Four contest against the Miami Dolphins, causing him to miss the entire 2025 season.
Luckily for Glenn and the rest of the offense, Hall was able to carry the workload on the ground, finishing the year with a career-high 1,065 rushing yards and four touchdowns. This led to general manager Darren Mougey giving Hall a massive three-year, $43.5 million extension this offseason, as the young playmaker will be a key part of the offense for years to come.
Still, despite Hall receiving an extension, Glenn believes that Allen could have a role alongside the team’s top running back in 2026. Throughout his two seasons with the Jets, the former Wisconsin Badger standout has recorded 410 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a limited role behind Hall. Glenn also highlighted his ability in the pass game last week, as he tallied 148 receiving yards on 19 receptions as a rookie in 2024.
