Fresh off a gritty victory over the New York Jets, the Chicago Bears will stick with Tyson Bagent against the Green Bay Packers.

It wasn't necessarily the prettiest win in the world for the Chicago Bears in Week 4, but it's not like the Green Bay Packers are able to say they dominated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Chicago improved to 3-1 by defeating the New York Jets, 23-12.

In a low-scoring affair down south, the Packers went to Raymond James Stadium and pushed the Bucs to a 0-4 record. Green Bay improved to 2-2 with its 17-14 victory.

Head coach Matt LaFleur rolled out a bit of a revamped offense, but it was once again the defense that kept this team in the game.

Two huge turnovers nearly cost the Packers, and they know they can't afford to be making these same mistakes against another division rival.

With Week 5 rapidly approaching, Green Bay's task is to avoid an 0-2 start at home, and they'll have to get past Tyson Bagent in order to do so.

Ben Johnson reveals Bagent is the Week 5 starter

Ben Johnson wasted no time revealing Bagent would be the Week 5 starter after he led the team to an 11-point victory over the now 1-3 Jets.

Johnson's announcement came on ESPN Chicago, and it gives the Packers basically the full week to know it'll be Bagent who has earned the starting nod for the Bears.

Obviously, things are going to look quite a bit different in this game compared to the three games from a year ago. It starts with a lack of Caleb Williams, but also the Packers are still without Micah Parsons.

Now, they just learned they're also down Edgerrin Cooper, who tore his Achilles and is out for the rest of the season.

That's three season-ending injuries for the Packers in their last three games, and it's clear they're going to have to earn everything this season.

Bagent looked fine against the Jets

There's a clear argument to make that Case Keenum looked far better against the Philadelphia Eagles than Bagent did against the Jets, but the Bears are going with Bagent, who's 12 years younger and has far less experience.

Who knows, this could be a ploy by Johnson to have the Packers prepare for Bagent, only for Chicago to throw Keenum in there at the last minute.

Either way, the Bears offense has scored 23+ points in each of its last two games after their nightmare Week 2 loss, 9-3, against the Minnesota Vikings.

It is worth noting that Bagent didn’t have a touchdown but threw an interception against the Jets, something that hasn’t happened since Week 18 of the 2024 season.
