Despite the looming reunion with his former team, the Green Bay Packers star pass rusher remains sidelined.

Micah Parsons opened the year on the PUP list, meaning he would miss at least the first four games of the regular season.

With Week 6 rapidly approaching, the question on everyone's mind is whether the Green Bay Packers will get their star defender back against his former team.

Ultimately, the answer remains no. That may have been the timetable for Parsons' return at the start of the year, but it was an incredibly optimistic one at that.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Packers "are not anticipating" Parsons to return to practice this week.

Remember, there had previously been reports that he may not return until November 8 against the New England Patriots, but Schefter notes the team is hoping they'll have him back by the end of the month.

Parsons will not play against the Dallas Cowboys

Parsons, 27, was the Cowboys' No. 12 overall pick back in 2021. After dominating the collegiate level at Penn State, he immediately made an impact in the NFL with a 13-sack rookie season.

Parsons has finished with at least 12 sacks in each of his first five seasons, and that includes his last two years where he's only played 13 and 14 games, respectively.

It feels like it's been forever since the Packers have had Parsons on the field, but this defense clearly hasn't missed a beat.

Newly minted defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon has done everything in his power to rebuild what Jeff Hafley had going for this team, and he's done so without the team's star defensive end.

Parsons will not suit up against the Dallas Cowboys, and the last thing the 3-2 Packers want to do is rush him back.

With playoff aspirations, waiting an extra few weeks to get a 100% healthy Parsons back on the field is a calculated risk the Packers are willing to take.

During the Packers' 40-40 tie with the Cowboys a year ago, Parsons finished with three total tackles and picked up one of his 12.5 sacks.

Now that they've dealt with a few season-ending injuries in back-to-back weeks, the team would love to have him on the field for Sunday Night Football in Week 6, but it's still seemingly a couple of weeks too soon.

Safety Evan Williams currently leads the team with his 49 total tackles, while linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, who is out the rest of the year, is the team leader with his three sacks.
