The Los Angeles Rams fell to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night by a score of 27-7, but despite that, head coach Sean McVay remains optimistic.

The Los Angeles Rams did not start the season off well as they lost their Week 1 matchup in Australia against the San Francisco 49ers by a final score of 27-7.

While the Rams did not look like themselves in the season opener, head coach Sean McVay does seem to be optimistic that this team can bounce back following the loss.

"I didn’t do nearly a good enough job. This is a humbling day for us. And this will define us only if we allow it to. And today was one of those days, and you know I always look inside out. I didn't do good enough job getting us ready to go. There were some opportunities where maybe the game could have flipped, but they deserve the win. They were ready to go, and we'll look at it," McVay said

"We'll see where we can improve and be better moving forward. But this is a good, humbling day. This is where what can sometimes happen in sports. I love this locker room. And you know, the first thing that I'm going to look at is myself, and I have to do a better job for our group collectively with our coaches, with our players, and we'll look at this film, and we'll get back to work because clearly that's obviously what we've got to do,” McVay added.

The biggest thing McVay talked about in the postgame presser was the fact that this loss will only define the Rams if they let it define them. Ultimately, McVay is correct, as it is only Week 1 and there will be plenty of chances for this team to respond.

Throughout McVay's presser, he also mentioned that he needs to do a better job helping to prepare this team for games like this. While McVay is correct, having a Week 1 game in Australia is not something any NFL has done before, in addition to the game playing against a division rival like the 49ers, who typically play the Rams very tight.

Getting into the second half of McVay's quote, he harped on the fact that he loves the locker room and that everyone must play better with a focus on looking at the film and seeing how the coaches and players can all improve.

In the grand scheme of things, all of this starts with McVay, so he must figure out a way to help this team respond and get ready quickly, because Week 2 will come around very quickly. The Rams also need to get readjusted to being back in California after a long flight and time difference, which will not be easy.

On that note, the Rams will be at home and will take on the New York Giants next Monday night, so it will be interesting to see how Los Angeles can respond in their next opportunity.

Now looking at the bigger picture, there are a few questions that have to be answered, but before that, the Rams must find a way to get healthy because they suffered a large number of injuries in last night's game.

The two most notable injuries were to tight end Davis Allen and linebacker Omar Speights, who both left the game early. Hopefully, Allen and Speights are good to go for Week 2, but those will both be situations to monitor.

Additionally, star edge rusher Myles Garrett did not look like himself all night and was actually held off the stat sheet. After the game, Garrett mentioned that he did not feel like himself, as he is still battling through a knee injury. So it will be interesting to see how the Rams choose to manage Garrett.

The Rams now head home with the hope of picking up a win on Monday night to get to 1-1, and over the next week, it will be intriguing to see if Aaron Donald is ready to go against the Giants, as he did not travel or play against the 49ers.

So as the Rams prepare for Week 2, it seems that there are a few things for McVay and his squad to manage, and if Los Angeles can respond well, there is a possibility that this loss was just a bump in the road and this team can even even its record at 1-1.
