Myles Garrett believes that the Rams defense has the talent to become the greatest defense of all time.

This offseason, the Los Angeles Rams have been able to add a significant amount of talent to what was already a very strong roster. The major additions this offseason include trading for Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie in addition to signing Jaylen Watson.

With a strong defenseon paper, Garrett spoke about the possibility that the Rams 2026 defense could mimic the 1985 Chicago Bears or the 2000s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Garrett appeared on ESPN LA following Wednesday's practice and talked about the fact that he believes the Rams could have the greatest defense of all time.

"I think so. You know, we don't have a limiting factor. I think every there's there's great players in every skill position, and you know guys who are incredibly hungry know not reading into the presses but know exactly what we have in our rooms. So no we're not going to cap ourselves on what we can do, and we're just going to continue to grind," Garrett said.

With the talent this group has, Garrett definitely has a point. When looking at the defense as a whole, there are very few holes, if any.

On the defensive line, there are plenty of disruptors, including Garrett, Byron Young, Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske, Josiah Stewart, and Ponna Ford. At linebacker, the Rams have a solid player in Nate Landman and others like Omar Speights, Grant Stuard, and Shaun Dolac who are progressing.

In the secondary, the Rams have the recently acquired duo of McDuffie and Watson as well as Emmanuel Forbes Jr., Quentin Lake, Kam Kurl, and Kam Kinchens.

All that to say, the Rams have the pieces to make the 2026 defense a special one. At defensive coordinator, Chris Shula will have the responsibility of getting this group where they need to be, but with the talent, that should not be an issue.

While this defense already has plenty of star power, the Rams have the potential to get even better as Aaron Donald is potentially coming back, and after a tryout on Wednesday, it seems more likely than ever that Donald will unretire.

With all these pieces in the mix, the Rams appear to have the tools to make this happen. For a defense to be truly dominant, having a dominant pass rush and a lockdown secondary is critical, and taking a look at both of those units, Los Angeles should be in a great spot.

As a result of the secondary and the defensive line having so much talent, the linebacker room should be in a great position to thrive, which would perfectly complement this defense.

Now all that's left to do is get through camp healthy and play the games on the schedule when September comes around. If the Rams can limit injuries and perform to their potential, this seems like the perfect opportunity for this defense to cement itself as one of the best defensive units of all time.
