With the group stages of this edition of the World Cup drawing to a conclusion, one game remains for Germany as they face an Ecuador side with everything to play for.
Group E still has 3 out of 4 spots up for grabs, with 2nd, 3rd and 4th place all undecided. What has been decided, however, is 1st place, and that belongs to Germany.
What Has Happened So Far?
Following on from their 7-1 thrashing of World Cup Debutants Curacao, Germany went on to beat the Ivory Coast in a significantly tougher clash against many people's dark horses to do well in this tournament.
Germany had trailed the game 1-0, thanks to a Frank Kessie goal after half an hour played, but Germany fought back, and two goals from Deniz Undav ensured that Germany booked their place in the Round of 32, and as Group E winners.
What's At Stake In This Final Game?
Therefore, for Germany, there isn't anything riding on the result of this game. Of course, Julian Nagelsmann will be aiming to keep the momentum going by securing a comfortable victory against Ecuador, but that is not likely to happen.
This is because Ecuador still has 2nd place to play for, and more likely a 3rd place spot to secure.
Ecuador have picked up one point from their games against Curacao and Ivory Coast and need a win to virtually guarantee their spot in the Round of 32, so they will have every ambition to leave New Jersey with 3 points

Germany goes into this game with some injury headaches, with Nico Schlotterbeck out for the remainder of the tournament and Nathaniel Brown sidelined with a knock.
However, due to Germany 1st placed finish being secured, Julian Naglesmann may choose to rotate his side, giving big players like Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha, Liverpool's Florian Wirtz and Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer a rest ahead of the knockout phase of the tournament, and players such as Borussia Dortmund's Waldemar Anton and Maximilian Beier as well as VfB Stuttgart's Deniz Undav pushing for a starting place.
As for Ecuador, they have no real injury concerns going into the game, but due to a severe lack of goals, they may decide to change things up in the hope it helps them produce more firepower up front.
