Dortmund have stepped up their pursuit of a striker with reports emerging that personal terms have already been agreed between the club and the player in question.

Borussia Dortmund have been looking for potential striker options this summer transfer window, either as a backup to Serhou Guirassy or as a possible replacement for the current Dortmund number 9, amid interest from various clubs.
So it might be for that reason that the club are beginning to have talks with their potential options in a bid to ramp up their search for a younger striking option to perhaps learn from Guirassy for a few years before hopefully going on to be his long-term successor.

The striker in question is German U21 international Nicolo Tresoldi. Aged 21, the German striker had a steady rise through the Hannover 96 youth system before eventually making his debut for the senior side in the 2022/23 season at just 18 years old. He would go on to make 14 appearances in all competitions that season, but failed to score or assist in any of those games. However, the following season, he would break that goal drought, scoring seven goals and getting one assist in all competitions for Hannover 96 that season. Tresoldi would go on to replicate these numbers in the 2024/25 season before getting a move to 20-time league champions Club Brugge in Belgium ahead of the 2025/26 season for €7.5 million (£6.4 million).
This was a completely new environment for Nicolo Tresoldi, in a new country, a new league and a new set of players around him. Everyone would have likely excused a mediocre debut season for the striker in the Belgian top flight, but Tresoldi had other ideas. In his debut year for Club Brugge, he went on to score 23 goals and 7 assists in 58 games, helping lead Club Brugge to another league title. Furthermore, it wasn't just domestically where he would shine, as he also impressed on the European stage.
In the UEFA Champions League, Tresoldi would go on to score in a crucial qualification game against Scottish side Rangers, as well as bagging a goal against Monaco and Barcelona, respectively, in the group stages of the competition. This then led Club Brugge into a Round of 32 tie with Atletico Madrid, where he would again get a goal in the home leg of their eventual 7-4 loss to Diego Simeone's side.

So this leads us to now where reports have emerged from Italian outlet, Corriere dello Sport via Bulinews, that Borussia Dortmund have come to a "basic agreement" on personal terms with Nicolo Tresoldi and his representatives. However, the report goes on to say that La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are also at the same stage as Dortmund, and have a clear understanding of the financials needed to get personal terms fully agreed with the player. However, the question remains: will Dortmund make a move for the forward?
It appears at the moment that Dortmund are not set to start talks with Club Brugge over a transfer fee just yet, partly due to the uncertainty surrounding Serhou Guirassy's future despite reports suggesting he is likely to remain at Dortmund this summer.
Author's Verdict
This seems to me like the profile of a striker that Borussia Dortmund would typically look to bring into the club. He falls into the right age bracket; he has shown that he has undoubted goalscoring ability and plays in a lower-level league than the Bundesliga, meaning a transfer is easier for Dortmund to pull off as the player is more likely to be keen on a step up in league.
However, like many of BVB's transfer targets this summer, it would appear that this one also depends on the future of Serhou Guirassy, as it is likely that Club Brugge would be looking for three or four times the amount that they paid for Nicolo Tresoldi last summer. And with the German attacker contracted to Club Brugge until 2029, they aren't under any pressure to sell a forward who has only been at the club for one season.
