Ajax have reportedly made an offer to sign Brian Rodríguez to replace Mika Godts.

Will Ajax win the Eredivisie this season?More Videos

One of Jordi Cruijff's biggest priorities over the last few weeks has been finding a left winger to replace Mika Godts, who joined Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €45 million, which could rise to €55 million after bonuses.

Noa Lang was Ajax's top target, but it now seems unlikely that Ajax will sign the Napoli winger, as he is considered too expensive. Galatasaray and Atalanta have both shown a strong interest in Lang, but are now seemingly exploring other options, too.

Despite this, there has been no news yet of Napoli lowering their demands and barring an unexpected change of events, Ajax will not be signing Lang.

Arnaut Danjuma has also been linked to Ajax, but that has failed to develop into anything concrete. Noah Adedeji-Sternberg is also said to be on Ajax's shortlist, but is not at the top of it.

Ajax make offer for Rodríguez

With negotiations for Lang's now having reached an impasse, Ajax are now targeting a move for Club América's Brian Rodríguez.

According to César Luis Merlo, Ajax have made an offer of $12 million, including bonuses, for the Uruguayan winger.

Club América has received the offer, but it is currently unclear whether they will accept it or if negotiations will have to continue further.

Would Rodríguez be a good signing?

Rodriguez has enjoyed a successful spell at Club América, scoring 42 goals and registering 29 assists in 157 games for the Mexican club.

He broke through at Penarol and then moved to Los Angeles FC in 2019, where he struggled for form. He also spent a few months on loan at Almería in 2021, where he played in LaLiga 2.

He has played 36 times for Uruguay, scoring four times. He was selected for the World Cup by Marcelo Bielsa and played all three games, coming off the bench as a substitute. He played a total of 38 minutes across all three games.

Since the World Cup, the 26-year-old has been in exceptional form for his club. He has played seven games, scoring four goals and registering three assists.

Michel has emphasised that Ajax want a left winger who excels in 1v1 situations and someone who can be a reliable source of goals.

Rodríguez is an excellent dribbler. During the 2025/26 Liga MX season, he completed 63.8% of dribbles and averaged 2,49 successful dribbles per 90, which ranks him amongst the best wingers in the league in that aspect.

He has not been the most prolific goal scorer throughout his career, but scored 13 goals in all competitions last season.
