PSV Eindhoven have agreed the broad terms of Lutsharel Geertruida’s loan move, but the defender is still waiting for RB Leipzig to formally approve his medical examination.
PSV Eindhoven’s pursuit of Lutsharel Geertruida has reached another delay, with RB Leipzig yet to give formal permission for the defender to undergo his medical examination.
The deal is agreed in principle, with Geertruida set to join PSV on a one-year loan containing a €15 million purchase option. However, the final formal approval from Leipzig has not yet arrived.
According to PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, the situation remains unchanged despite expectations that the transfer could be completed today.

PSV had expected to receive approval for Geertruida's medical on Wednesday morning, but that permission had still not been granted by midday.
"There is still no approval from RB Leipzig. So not definitive yet," Elfrink reported.
The two clubs are continuing to work through the remaining details of the agreement. PSV, meanwhile, has already taken precautionary measures in anticipation of the transfer being completed.
"PSV has taken precautionary measures and a doctor is ready tomorrow if it can proceed," Elfrink explained.
For now, however, the medical cannot take place.
"Leipzig and PSV are working on the details. It is expected that those will be resolved, but a medical examination of Geertruida cannot take place yet as long as that is not the case."
Deal Agreed, But Not Yet Final
The current situation does not mean the transfer has collapsed. Rather, the broad agreement between the clubs remains in place, with one final formal step still required before the process can move forward.
"In short: the deal is certainly agreed upon in broad outlines, but the final checkmark still needs to be placed," Elfrink said.
He added that the expectation remains that the outstanding issues will be resolved and the transfer completed.
"It looks like everything will work out fine today, but the facts are now - 12:00 - no different than last night."
The PSV watcher also stressed the importance of sticking to the facts while the clubs continue their discussions.
"Some get annoyed about it, but we must stick to the facts. RB Leipzig still has to formally approve the medical examination, and that hasn't happened yet."
€15m Purchase Option
Once Leipzig gives the necessary approval, Geertruida can complete his medical and move towards signing his PSV contract.
The agreement remains a one-year loan with a €15 million purchase option, giving Peter Bosz a major defensive addition while allowing PSV to decide later whether to make the Netherlands international's move permanent.
For now, though, the final paperwork remains outstanding. The expectation remains that the transfer will be finalised once Leipzig provides the required approval.
