The talented midfielder returns to Eindhoven for urgent medical assessment after hobbling off during international duty.

PSV have suffered another injury setback during the international break, with Paul Wanner returning to Eindhoven after being forced off while playing for Austria.

The midfielder was withdrawn just over an hour into Austria’s 3-1 victory over Kosovo on Sunday after sustaining a foot injury. Wanner has now left the Austrian training camp and will return to the Netherlands for further assessment.

Wanner To Undergo Further Examinations

PSV confirmed that Wanner’s injury will be evaluated by the club’s medical specialists in Eindhoven. No indication has yet been given regarding the severity of the problem or how long the 20-year-old could be sidelined.

The timing comes after Wanner had made a strong impression for Austria during the international break. He provided an assist in their 3-1 victory over Israel before doing the same against Kosovo, although his latest appearance was cut short by the injury.

Wanner’s return adds to PSV’s growing list of absentees. Lutsharel Geertruida has also left the Netherlands camp with an injury, while Ricardo Pepi was injured in PSV’s final match before the international break and is expected to miss several more games.

PSV Injury List Grows

The Eindhoven club are already managing several other fitness concerns.

New signings Sami Ouaissa and Sam Lammers are currently working on their fitness as they continue to build towards their PSV debuts. Alassane Pléa is also recovering from injury but is expected to require more time before returning.

Jerdy Schouten remains sidelined for a significant part of the season, while Kiliann Sildillia is also still unavailable.

PSV will now await the results of Wanner’s examinations before determining the next steps in his recovery.
