Ricardo Pepi nears a timely return as Peter Bosz navigates a selection crisis, balancing injuries and suspensions ahead of a high-stakes title showdown against league-leading Feyenoord.

PSV Eindhoven strikers Ricardo Pepi and Sam Lammers took part in a training session with Jong PSV on Thursday as they continued their rehabilitation, with Peter Bosz preparing his squad for Sunday’s crucial Eredivisie clash against Feyenoord.

As reported by Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagbald, both forwards followed an individual schedule this week while the first-team squad travelled to Portugal for their Champions League meeting with FC Porto. PSV held a short training session in Porto on Wednesday before allowing the players an additional day of rest on Thursday.

The first team are scheduled to resume training on Friday and Saturday as preparations intensify for the meeting between the Eredivisie’s top two sides.

Pepi Edges Closer To A Return

Pepi has been sidelined for a little over a month after suffering an injury during PSV’s match against FC Twente. The American striker went down shortly after kick-off and was unable to continue, leaving Bosz without one of his principal attacking options.

There is now some encouragement for PSV, with Bosz indicating in Porto that Pepi could be available for the matchday squad against Feyenoord.

His participation in rehabilitation training with Jong PSV represents another step in his recovery, although it remains unclear whether he will be fit enough to feature on Sunday.

Even a place on the bench would provide Bosz with an additional option as PSV look to strengthen their position in the title race.

Lammers Still Waiting For PSV Debut

Lammers also trained with Jong PSV as he continued his recovery, but his return appears to be further away.

The striker joined PSV from FC Twente at the beginning of September but has yet to make an appearance for his new club. Unlike Pepi, he is not expected to be ready for the Feyenoord encounter.

PSV have not provided a detailed update on the length of Lammers’ recovery, leaving uncertainty over when he could make his debut.

His continued absence adds to the selection problems facing Bosz, who has been forced to find alternative solutions in attack during a demanding period for the club.

Mijnans Suspension Creates Another Problem

PSV have recently used Sven Mijnans and Guus Til in a rotating system, with one operating as the central striker and the other occupying the number ten role.

However, Mijnans will be suspended for Sunday's match against Feyenoord, meaning Bosz cannot rely on the same combination that has helped PSV manage their shortage of forwards.

Seventeen-year-old Mikkel Bro Hansen is another option for the striker position, but the manager must decide how best to organise his attack against the league leaders.

Pepi’s potential return could therefore prove particularly valuable, even if he is not ready to start. His availability would give Bosz another recognised striker and greater flexibility when making changes during the match.

With Feyenoord holding a four-point advantage over PSV, the encounter carries significant importance in the Eredivisie title race. Bosz will use Friday and Saturday’s training sessions to assess his available players and settle on his plans.

Pepi’s recovery offers a possible boost, but Lammers is likely to remain unavailable, leaving PSV with important decisions to make before Sunday’s showdown.
