PSV are not expected to stop their transfer activity once Lutsharel Geertruida's loan move from RB Leipzig is completed, with the Dutch champions reportedly monitoring KV Mechelen youngster Moncef Zekri and former AZ defender Yukinari Sugawara.

Geertruida's impending arrival would provide Peter Bosz with a major defensive reinforcement, but PSV's work in the transfer market appears to be continuing.

Earlier this week, Absolut Fussball reported that PSV are interested in Yukinari Sugawara, the former AZ right-back who is currently under contract with Southampton.

The Japanese international previously spent several seasons in the Eredivisie with AZ before moving to England, making him a familiar name in Dutch football.

PSV are also reportedly keeping tabs on another defensive prospect. According to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, the Eindhoven club have shown a strong interest in 17-year-old Moncef Zekri of KV Mechelen.

However, PSV face competition from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, who have already submitted an official offer of €3.5 million for the young left-back, according to the Belgian publication.

“Now there is also confirmation that Sporting Lisbon has submitted an official bid to Malinwa and that the amount for the Mechelen team is sufficient. The number of clubs chasing him proves that Zekri can count on some interest,” Het Nieuwsblad reported, as quoted by PSV Inside.

The newspaper also highlighted the level of interest Zekri has attracted in recent years.

“Last season, among others, Inter Milan was already after him and PSV Eindhoven also appears to be very interested in the services of Mechelen's golden nugget.”

The reports suggest PSV are looking beyond immediate first-team reinforcements and are also assessing young defensive talent with potential for further development.

The push for defensive reinforcements has been particularly strong among PSV supporters in recent weeks following several uncertain defensive performances.

Geertruida's expected arrival should strengthen Bosz's options, but the continued interest in players such as Zekri and Sugawara indicates that PSV's recruitment department is still assessing the market.

Another name has also surfaced among supporters: Jordan Teze.

The former PSV defender left Eindhoven for AS Monaco two years ago but could now be available for either a loan or permanent transfer, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

Teze has also been linked with Ajax, with the possibility discussed on the DoneDeal podcast from VoetbalPrimeur.

For now, Geertruida remains the immediate priority, but PSV's activity suggests the club is continuing to explore several defensive options before the transfer window closes.
