The Bournemouth Stars Heading Out To Represent Their Nations Around Europe

The international break is upon us, bringing a brief pause to Bournemouth’s domestic campaign, but for a sizeable group of Cherries, the football is far from over.

Marco Rose will see several members of his squad depart the south coast to represent their respective countries, with many players heading across Europe for a series of important fixtures.

For some, international duty represents an opportunity to build on impressive club form and establish themselves as regulars at international level. For others, it is a chance to force their way into the manager’s plans, gain valuable experience or make their mark on the international stage.

With Bournemouth’s squad continuing to attract attention beyond the Premier League, there is plenty of interest in how the Cherries’ representatives will fare during the break, and whether they can return to Dorset fit and ready for the busy run of fixtures ahead.

Alex Scott has undoubtedly been the Cherries star man in the early stages of the season, and has rightly been rewarded with an England call up by head coach Thomas Tuchel.

The midfield magician will be hoping to win his first senior cap and has plenty of opportunities to do so. England will compete in four UEFA Nations League fixtures, facing Czechia both home and away, as well as tricky tied against both Spain and Croatia respectively. 

Scott will be confident of gaining some valuable minutes to show his national coach just what he can do, this has been aided by injury setbacks for two central midfielders in Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo and Arsenal star Declan Rice.

Both Ryan Christie and Ben Gannon-Doak have once again been called up by Scotland, having both featured in the nations first World Cup outing since 1998.

New head coach Sebastien Pocognoli will be hoping to get off to a strong start in the UEFA Nations League, and there is no doubt both the Cherries on duty will play big roles. Scotland start with a trip to Slovenia before hosting Switzerland, travelling to North Macedonia and ending with a home tie against Slovenia.

It's fair to say both players may have wanted more minutes in the Premier League so far this campaign, but both have still made significant impacts. Ben Gannon-Doak has looked lively when introduced in the latter stages of games, and Ryan Christie rounded off his first start of the season with a superb hat trick, in the 4-0 win over Lincoln in the EFL Cup.

Wales coach Craig Bellamy has once again called up David Brooks to his squad ahead of some difficult ties for the Welsh. Two games against Denmark, a trip to Portugal and a home tie against Norway, it would be some statement if both Wales and Brooks could perform admirably during this particular break.

Brooks is struggling to force his way into the starting line up with the Cherries and will certainly look to this international break as an opportunity to get back to his best form.

Cherries versatile midfielder Toth will join up with the Hungary squad for some intriguing fixtures ahead of them. Starting and ending with difficult games against the Ukraine, Hungary will also face Georgia on home soil, as well as a trip to Northern Ireland.

Alex will be hoping to get some valuable game time having featured very little under Marco Rose so far this season. There is clearly a talent here and this could be the springboard for Toth to play a bigger role for Bournemouth going forward.

An impressive start to the season with the Cherries has seen Adrien rewarded with a call up back up to the French squad. Having only made the solitary senior cap for France, Truffert will be desperate to repay the faith shown in him by new head coach Zinedine Zidane.

Games against Turkey, Italy and two with Belgium are what's ahead for Adrien and his exciting France side.

A strong start to the campaign in the Premier League was then elevated for the Serbian, with his player of the match performance in Cherries win over Real Sociedad in Europe.

Petro will be hoping to grab the number one jersey for his nation as they prepare for four big UEFA Nations League fixtures. The Serbians begin at home to Greece and the Netherlands, before heading to Germany and then facing the Dutch for a second time.
