Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a Celtic transfer out of absolutely nowhere, as a deal has been agreed.
There is a ton of movement around Celtic at the moment. Or at least, that feels like the case from all the rumours and speculation in the media.
The club have already signed Camilo Duran from Qarabag. They are also believed to be interested in a couple of standouts from Egypt at the ongoing World Cup.
On the other hand, there are those who have or could leave the club this summer as well. And another such move is now only a matter of time.
It is a move that had been little prior indications and has come almost out of the blue. It will raise some familiar questions about the club as well.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Celtic player's exit out of nowhere
According to Fabrizio Romano, Fulham have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old winger Erskine Rennie from Celtic.
Rennie picked Fulham ahead of a number of English and European clubs and will join the Craven Cottage outfit on a long-term contract.
Unfortunately, this is not the first highly-rated youngster to leave Parkhead this summer. Just a few days earlier, news had broken that Liverpool had sealed a deal to sign Scotland U16 captain Dara Jikiemi from Celtic.
In that case, it had been expected and speculation had been floating around for a while. On the other hand, this has come pretty much out of nowhere.
What does the future hold for Celtic's youth setup?
Last summer, Celtic had gone in and signed one of Fulham's most talented youngsters in the form of Callum Osmand.
We have already seen glimpses of what Osmand is capable of, as he has scored against the Rangers and also the last goal in the final game of the league campaign against Hearts.
On the other hand, Fulham now seem to have returned the favour by agreeing a deal to sign Rennie from Celtic.
Of course, this will once again give rise to the discourse about Celtic and their inability to hold on to the club's best talents.
The most worrying thing is the fact that it is easy to see why these players are so comfortable when it comes to leaving.
Celtic simply have not been able to provide its youngsters with a clear pathway into the senior team for many years now. So, there is little incentive for them to stick around at Parkhead, and leaving for the Premier League no longer feels like a risk.
