Fabrizio Romano has dropped some Rangers news which Celtic fans seem to have received quite positively.

It looks like things are starting to pick up pace in Glasgow once again. Celtic have already announced Martin O'Neill as the new permanent manager of the club. But there is still some uncertainty around the backroom team.

Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham were vital to Celtic's success last season. But for some reason, their return has not been confirmed yet. Hopefully, it is just a matter of ironing out final details rather than an inability to find an agreement with the two coaches.

On the other hand, it looks like the Rangers are set to undergo another change in the managerial hot seat this summer.

Danny Rohl is believed to be closing in on a move to RB Salzburg. On the other hand, the Rangers have already found a replacement for him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Rangers have agreed a deal to appoint Derek McInnes as their new head coach. Formal steps are set to follow but the deal is done.

McInnes was a whisker away from winning the league with Hearts last season, but failed in the final step, losing away at Parkhead to Celtic in the final game of the campaign to finish second.

McInnes' side did finish above the Rangers and it looks like that was enough to convince the Ibrox club to make a swoop.

Celtic fans do not seem particularly bothered or concerned by the news though. One wrote: "From 2nd place last season to 2nd place next season."

It would be safe to say that the Rangers have been through a managerial merry-go-round since Steven Gerrard left the club to join Aston Villa in the middle of the 21/22 campaign.

Since then, the Ibrox side have brought in Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Mick Beale, Philippe Clement, Russell Martin, the aforementioned Rohl, and now the impending arrival of McInnes.

Celtic have won the league title in all of those seasons. And while the Hoops cannot rest on their laurels, they have reason to feel confident.

McInnes is not a new manager on the block. He has been managing in Scotland since 2007. Yes, the 25/26 season was his best one yet. But that does not mean that it is a sign of things to come. It might very well have been an anomaly.

As for Celtic, they need to focus on themselves. The first thing on the list has to be sorting out the coaching situation and bringing back Maloney and Fotheringham. Once that is over the line, the Hoops should turn their attention towards rebuilding the squad.
