Anthony Joseph has dropped an update involving the former Celtic player and coach.
Celtic fans always like to keep an eye out for those with a long history with the club. This rings especially true for those who came through their own youth system.
Someone who fits that bill is Darren O'Dea. He spent several years at Parkhead, making 70 appearances for Celtic before heading on a journeyman career that saw him play in England, India, Canada, and beyond.
Since then, he has begun his coaching journey. Once again, he was back to his roots, and spend four years as a coach at Celtic.
Ultimately, he would end up leaving for a role at Swansea City, to join the coaching staff of Alan Sheehan. It was a short run though.
He would eventually end up getting the caretaker role for Swansea City, for merely one game after Sheehan was sacked, and he ended up losing it.
Since then, he has been out of coaching. And with the number of returns we have witnessed at Celtic recently, it would not have been a surprise if O'Dea was brought back as well.
That is not on the cards though. But he is making a return to coaching, this time as part of a big-name manager's coaching staff.
According to Anthony Joseph, Yaya Toure has agreed terms to become the new head coach of Slovan Bratislava. It’s understood that the Manchester City icon will bring in O’Dea as his assistant.
We can only wish O'Dea the best of luck in his new chapter and hope he enjoys a ton of success.
Interestingly, Robbie Keane was linked with both Celtic and Slovan Bratislava in recent weeks. But somehow, he has ended up without either job.
Celtic ended their search for a new manager by agreeing a one-year deal with Martin O'Neill after the success he enjoyed as the interim manager this season.
It has to go down as the right decision, not just because of how highly respected and popular O'Neill is, but also because of how polarising a move for Keane would have proven to be.
That is the last thing that the Celtic board would have wanted at this point in time, after how much criticism they have already been on the receiving end of.
Reports have also suggested that the club decided to move away from a move for Keane, even though he was initially viewed as the frontrunner and they had wanted a longer-term appointment than O'Neill.
