The Celtic player has informed the club that he wants to leave in this summer transfer window.

This summer is going to be one of transition for Celtic. The club have plenty of players who simply seem to be at the end of their cycle at Parkhead and might be ready to move on.

It is important to time these things right. Otherwise, you could easily end up getting stuck with a stagnant team that can't produce results.

One could argue that the best time was last summer. It did not happen. And that is a big reason why the performances were what they were.

Anyways, looking towards the future is important for a club like Celtic. The aim is always on the next trophy.

For that to happen, it might first be time to say goodbye to a few familiar faces. Those who have done an excellent job for Celtic over the years. But it simply is the right moment to go our separate ways.

According to The Herald, Reo Hatate has informed Celtic that he wants to leave the club this summer.

The Japanese midfielder seems to believe that it would be best for both parties. And it is hard to disagree with him.

Hatate barely played towards the end of the season. That was certainly unexpected for a player of his quality, especially it had looked like he was finally finding some form.

Hatate has long been considered one of the best in Scottish football when on top of his game. He has been linked with a move away for years now, but it has not materialised so far. Perhaps it could change this summer.

Hatate was signed by the club back in early 2022. He was one of the elite signings that Ange Postecoglou managed to pull off from the J-League. And no matter which way you look at it, the midfielder will go down as an era-defining midfielder.

It was his brace against the Rangers that sealed a 3-0 win at Parkhead and gave Celtic fans hope that Postecoglou was headed in the right direction. Five consecutive league titles have followed.

Hatate leaving would leave a gap that Celtic would need to fill. But he is not the only midfielder who could be on his way out.

It has been suggested that players like Arne Engels and Benjamin Nygren might be eyeing the exit door as well.

So, the midfield department could be set for a complete revamp. Let's wait and watch how this plays out.
