Anthony Joseph has confirmed Celtic are in talks to sign the South American striker with five Champions League goals last season.
Celtic will need to add to their forward line this summer. Daizen Maeda has already hinted that he could be looking to leave the club this summer, following the World Cup, after more than four seasons at Parkhead.
Also, for some reason, Celtic did not take up the option to extend Kelechi Iheanacho's deal, despite his excellent end to the campaign, which helped the Hoops a double.
It is believed that Iheanacho remains interested in staying at Celtic. And fans will be hoping that it was merely a matter of the club wanting to renegotiate a deal rather than extending the terms he was on, considering the little football he ended up playing.
Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu have left at the end of their loan spells. Callum Osmand returned from a late injury but has only four senior appearances to his name so far.
So, all things considered, Celtic need to sign a striker this summer, at the very least. And a South American forward with five Champions League goals in the previous campaign seems to be on their radar.
Anthony Joseph confirms Celtic talks for striker with five Champions League goals last season
According to Anthony Joseph, Celtic are in talks to sign Qarabag forward Camilo Duran. It’s understood that the clubs were initially far apart on valuation, but negotiations continue.
The Colombian has two years left on his deal with Qarabag. Last season, he scored 15 goals, including five in the Champions League.
Those goals came against top-level opponents as well. Duran scored a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt. He also found the back of the net once each against Newcastle United, Benfica and Ajax.
That just goes to show that Duran is someone who rises to the occasion and is capable of delivering under the bright lights. He is not someone who will shrink under the pressure, which is what you need if you want to succeed at Celtic.
Camilo Duran could be a good signing for Celtic
At 24 years of age, the Colombian striker is at a point in his career when he needs to take the next step. Celtic presents him with that opportunity.
Now, it remains to be seen if the club can find an agreement with Qarabag or not. And also, how long this saga drags on.

In the past, we have seen Celtic being linked with plenty of players, only for the transfer saga to drag on for weeks and then ending in disappointment.
They cannot afford to let that happen again this summer. It led to the club having to sign Iheanacho as a free agent after the window had closed last time around. And while it eventually worked out quite well, that is not a reliable strategy.
