The journalist has dropped a fresh update on the situation involving Celtic and Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan.
Celtic are on the verge of completing a club-record deal, with Kasper Hogh set to arrive from Bodo/Glimt. For a long while, that transfer rumour had seemed more like wishful thinking than something that would lead to something of substance.
It has, though. Celtic have agreed to pay a club-record transfer fee of £11 million plus add-ons. Now, the hope is that he manages to recapture the form he showcased at Bodo/Glimt last season, scoring against teams like Man City, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Bringing in someone like Hogh was important. Camilo Duran has done very well in pre-season so far, scoring three goals in as many outings. But there needs to be more depth in the position following the exits of Kelechi Iheanacho and Daizen Maeda, arguably Celtic's two most important players last season.
On the other hand, the Hoops seem to be advancing in a deal to sign Haissem Hassan of Real Oviedo as well. Reports emerged earlier that the player had accepted a deal and that only negotiations over the bonus structure were still ongoing. Now, there is a fresh update on the situation.
Anthony Joseph drops Haissem Hassan to Celtic update
The tone of some earlier reports suggested that the Hassan to Celtic deal was as good as done. It looks like that is not exactly the case as of yet.
According to Anthony Joseph, Celtic continue to work on a deal to sign Hassan from Real Oviedo this summer.
It’s understood that, as things stand, there has been no agreement reached yet between the two clubs.
Celtic are keen to bring the Egypt international winger to Glasgow after his impressive displays at the World Cup.
How likely is a deal to happen?
So, it looks like it is not a 'done deal' just yet. But that does not mean that an agreement could not be reached in the very near future.
Also, the update does not mention whether an agreement has been found between Celtic and Hassan's camp or not. What has been made clear is that nothing has been agreed with Real Oviedo yet.
Let us just wait and watch how this plays out. Hassan was a standout at the World Cup and put up some promising numbers in La Liga last season as well, despite seeing his side relegated.
He has only a year left on his contract at Real Oviedo and a £10 million release clause as well. So, Celtic might be hoping for a discount on the transfer fee.
