Celtic boss, Martin O'Neill, has confirmed some good news following the club's 6-2 win over St Mirren in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Celtic got themselves a big win this weekend. 6-2 against St Mirren in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park. The scoreline does not reflect how tight that game actually was though.

St Mirren came back from two goals down to take the game into extra-time. But then, Celtic played arguably their best football of the season, scoring four goals within a space of six minutes.

There was no coming back from that for St Mirren, who deserve credit for the effort they put in. Dunfermline Athletic, managed by none other than Neil Lennon, await Celtic in the final of the Scottish Cup. Martin O'Neill will get his chance to win another trophy for the Hoops.

It was Kelechi Iheanacho who caught the eye with his performance against St Mirren, scoring a brace off the bench. The first was a header after a beautiful cross from James Forrest from the right. The second was a striker's calm finish even under pressure in the box.

Celtic have been missing a goalscorer this season. Iheanacho showed that he can be that.

Naturally, fans want to see him start games moving forward. O'Neill seems to have his doubts about the striker's fitness but Iheanacho himself feels that he is 'completely fit', which is great news for Celtic.

According to The Celtic Way, O'Neill said: "Obviously he's had the few injury problems. I think I said to you that sometimes it he felt as if he started the games, he might not see the game through.

"We've got a couple like that at the moment. But yes, today his goals have been big for us, really big.

"He says he is completely fit, and I'm not completely sure! But he was brilliant. He took the goals magnificently. You can see why he's had a career."

Of course, the most important thing is to make sure that Iheanacho remains available for the title run-in. Celtic cannot afford to see him pick up another injury and miss the rest of the season.

If that means continuing to use him as an impact sub off the bench, then so be it. In fact, that might suit Iheanacho at this point.

He gets to come off the bench and play against tired legs. That is when his quality becomes even more vital in front of goal, as we saw against St Mirren this weekend.

Starting with Daizen Maeda through the middle might be the idea to go ahead with for now, unless we are completely certain that Iheancho is ready to start.

Maeda looked like his old self against St Mirren and put in a Man of the Match display. It is good to see two of Celtic's forwards show some form as we head into the post-split fixtures.

As for the likes of Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu, brought in on loan from Bundesliga clubs in the winter transfer window, they simply have not done enough to continue to receive consistent playing time.
