Celtic fans were not happy with a few of the decisions Martin O'Neill made for the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren.

Celtic have a lot to play for going into the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren. Firstly, this competition is their best shot at winning some silverware this season, although the Hoops are still in the league title race with Hearts and the Rangers.

Secondly, they would be keen to put things right after losing the League Cup final against St Mirren the last time the two teams faced off at Hampden Park, earlier in the season when Wilfried Nancy was in charge.

Of course, with how toothless Celtic have looked at times this season, it would be a mistake to take St Mirren lightly going into the game, even if they lost at Parkhead just last weekend.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's goal decided the game on that occasion. But he finds himself on the bench this time around as Martin O'Neill has made some interesting calls.

Benjamin Arthur's return to the line-up is worth keeping an eye on. Some fans have felt that he brings more balance to the centre-back pairing than Liam Scales. Today, we will find out if that is the case or not.

On the other hand, there are many supporters who would have liked to see Marcelo Saracchi start at right-back ahead of Anthony Ralston. One wrote: "Why is Saracchi not being used at right back instead of Ralston. Undoubtedly so much better and has experience playing right-back so why not?"

Another wrote: "Sarrachi should be first name on sheet. We are basically playing without a management team."

Then, there were also those who were not happy with Callum McGregor's selection and wanted to see Reo Hatate get a start.

One wrote: "McGregor should be nowhere near the team."

Another added: "Hatate finally putting in decent performances back to back at Ibrox only to never be seen again is a mystery. All to accommodate a half-fit captain."

McGregor is believed to be playing through an injury at the moment. But perhaps the captain felt that he needed to be in the middle of the park for a game of this magnitude.

It remains to be seen if the trio of Arne Engels, Benjamin Nygren and McGregor proves to be the one that helps unlock this Celtic side and gets them playing some good football after all this time.

The most important thing at this point in the season is getting wins though. Let's hope that is something that this Celtic team are able to pull off on the day.

Their performances might have been nowhere near the mark in recent times. But on paper, they have the quality and then some to win this competition. Championship side Dunfermline Athletic await the winners in the final.
