Reports coming out of Denmark suggest that Celtic are close to agreeing a €4.7 million deal to sign the midfielder.
Celtic will be looking to strengthen their midfield ranks this summer. I have already talked about numerous times in the past about players like Arne Engels, Reo Hatate, Paulo Bernardo and potentially more heading towards the Parkhead exit door.
On the other hand, there are certain profiles currently missing in the current squad, which Martin O'Neill might be eager to add.
One profile Celtic have not had for a while is that of a physical defensive midfielder. Someone who would add some size to the middle of the park.
Celtic have been linked with one such player recently. And it looks like a deal might be close if the latest information coming out about the situation is accurate.
According to Kim Kristoffersen, Celtic and Brondby are close to agreeing a deal for Benjamin Tahirovic worth around €4.7 million, including bonuses.
It remains to be seen if that is accurate or not. But Tahirovic is someone whom the club have been linked to in recent times.
Many Celtic fans did get a chance to get their first glimpse of him as he started for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the game against Canada.
To be honest, a lot of fans were not impressed. Tahirovic was described as someone who looked 'lethargic' and lacked pace. That is not what you want to hear about a midfielder representing his national team in their World Cup opener.
Tahirovic did not sign on the ball either. He managed to complete just one long ball, while attempting six of them. He could also make just 70% of his passes and failed with both his crosses.
Tahirovic will need to be better on the ball if he wants to play in midfield for Celtic, that is for sure.
To be fair, Tahirovic's numbers do look a bit better in certain other aspects of the game. He had seven carries on the day and was fouled on one occasion.
Tahirovic also made five recoveries and won four ground duels. And the fact that he was left on the pitch for the entire game goes to show that the Bosnian coach must have appreciated what he was getting from the midfielder.
Once again, I would like to point out that nothing is done and dusted yet. Reports seem to suggest that an agreement is close, but if you have followed Celtic for any length of time, you know that is no guarantee that it will be completed.
